Got talking at a BBQ to a guy today, he was interested in bikes and has a 1982 KX250. From the description it would appear to be in running order. He told me he was going to sell it soon, as he was looking to get something he could register. I asked how much for the KX. He was going to ask $700 for it. Can anyone give me some info on this model and weather it would be worth folllowing up. I figure any old bike at that price may be worth a go. I currently have a YZ250E but would interested in something different. Is this model a KX250C ?
Cheers
Andy

If I remember rightly, the '82 KX was disc braked, Uni-trak but still air cooled.
Gold rims too, maybe?
Cool looking bike.
If you don't buy it, Andy. Let me know. I will! ;D

You've got me keen now. I must at least go and have a look at the bike. The guy showed me a picture of the bike on his mobile, but I couldnt see the back of the bike and was a bit unsure what model it is as he told me it had twin rear shocks. I dont think he really knows what he has. That makes it even more interesting and worthwhile looking at.

Thanks Simo - much coin and years passed by getting it like that.

If it's got twin rear shocks, your onto an even better thing.

Just spoke to the owner of the bike , he got mixed up and forgot one letter in the description "L" as in
KLX. Not really what I was looking for unfortunately :(

Follow it through to the end!
My 83 KX500 came to me cause no one was interested in a KDX500, no one wanted a trail bike.
When i finally got to see the bike it was a KX, not a KDX, it just had a KDX seat cover.
In the end it may have turned out to be KX500 converted into a KDX at the time, but i'll never know.
As mentioned, if it is a twin shock KX, 1980 or therabouts, it is one very rare bike. Its worth the time to follow through and be 100% sure it is actually a KDX or KLX.

Owner confirmed it's a KLX250 1982 model (has compliance plate) Still might be worth a look. Wasn't really after an early model 4 stroke. Have been reading through a few earlier posts with interest. Many members out there that own one? opinons?
I wasn't in the market for another bike but my ears pricked up when the guy mentioned he had an early model kawasaki.

If your not interested in KLX I might be interested. Had one of those brand new. Ah the memories.

Dam what a sensational bike it is way to nice to get dirty i'm sure it goes as good as it looks but it is a museum piece, nice work.

The KLX is a lovely handling bike with a very dodgy head and not a lot of power. Later KL models had a roller bearing cam head which fits straight in to KLX engines/frames.
