Title: motor rebuild YZ125G-Help
Post by: Mick N on October 28, 2011, 01:40:30 pm
Sorry I have to post this question again as my original one last night had disappeared into cyber space before I had a chance to read it this morning. Ok-how do you undo the nut holding the primary drive gear on the end of the crankshaft? How do you stop the crank from turning while trying to undo the nut?I have the original manual but no info.I have the barrel and clutch basket out. Also does the nut have opposite thread? Thanks again

There are two ways of doing it...

1, use a "U" shaped metal block with enough of a slot to fit over the rod and hold it in place when you undo the nut

2, shove the handle of a large spanner down the gap in the crank and wedge it in when you undo the nut

You can use a peice of cloth between the gears to jam it up (both ways- tight and loosen) and it wont damage anything.
