OK, time for VMX shit, what do you think is the best looking bike from each year, dont get this confused with the best bike to have/own. Pick the capacity aswell. No "works" bikes. I'll start with a couple
1973 250 class YZ250A (I know its a 74 model but it was out in early 73)
1974 250 class YZ250B, same as above model, out early 74, both bikes had groundbreaking technology and looks, same for open class bikes
1974 Suzuki TM125, looked like a works bike, similarity stopped right there. Pretty as a picture though.
1970/71 Husky CR400 Cross....what can I say?
1984 125 Kawasaki......sweet bro
1977 250 KTM....More holes than swiss cheese....
1978 250 Kawasaki....back with a bang
keep it going, theres so many too think of. :P

Bikes that spring to mind...
1974 Ossa Phantom.
1977 Suzuki RM250/370.
1983 Husky anything.
1984 KX125.

77 agree with the RM 125B
78 has to be the all new red CR250 Honda. It was that year's head turner.
79 RM125N
80 KX420, wasn't that range of Kawas the first production linkage model of all brands?
81 CR450
-
77 RM Range
78 Honda CR250
81 RM 125
82 RM 250
oh and of course the YZB's ;D
-
1964....Rickman Mk3 Metisse...preferably with a Triumph twin engine
1968....Yamaha DT1
1968....Montesa Cappra GP...orange version only, the blue ones look pretty ordinary..
1970....OSSA Stiletto
1973....Honda CR250 Elsinore
1974....OSSA Phantom
1978/9.Honda CR250
1975....Yamaha MX250/400B
1979....Husqvarna CR390
1981....Husqvarna CR500 'Silver Bullet'
1984... Honda CR500 (any model)
1990... ATK (any model motocrosser)
There are many more but that's off the top of the head this morning......... 8)

Firko, you don't seriously think a dumpy DT1 is more attractive than a 250 Cappra GP from 1968... and I thought you had taste! :)

There, it's on the list now! I told you that the list was off the top of my head and there'd be more. To answer your question though, yes I do think the DT1 is pretty, everything seems to be in place and not tacked on as an afterthought like many of the Euro bikes of the time. I love those orange Cappra's but would they look as cool if ther were painted another colour? The alternate blue tank / black frame model looks positively drab......Beauty's in the eye of the beholder. ;D

I think a 500 compy AJ should in your list somewhere near the top Firko!
cheers

On looks alone, the bikes that do it for me are :
1974....Honda CR125, Ossa 250 Phantom, Maico MC400/440GP
1975....YZ125, CZ 250 Falta & Husky CR360 Mikkola
1976....RM125A, RM250A & Maico AW400/440
1977....RM125B, Montesa VB250 & VB360
1978....KX125A4, Honda CR250 & Husky 390AMX
1979....KX125A5, KX250A5 & Husky CR390
1980....Honda CR125RA, RM250T & YZ465G
1981....RM125X, Maico MC250 (& 490) Mega 2 & Husky CR430
1982....RM125Z, RM250Z & Husky CR500 "Silver Bullet"
1983....CR125RD, CR250RD & KX500
1984....KX125, KX250 & Honda CR500.
Usually the bikes that look the best are the most competitive as well. But exceptions to this would probably be the '82.5 Husky CR500 and the '83 KX500

Very hard to disagree with any of those. Possibly the KX125 from '73/74 was a great looking bike but not nearly as good performance wise as the CR.
The '75 Ossa Phantom was also a fantastic looking bike at least on par with the Falta in looks

The simplicity of an early 70's 2 valve Jawa, straight from the factory.
