Title: Husky rims, painted??
Post by: ola_martin on October 12, 2011, 12:16:35 am
The goldish rims on my -82 seems to be painted? Is that so, always thought it was anodised rims on Huskys??
If paint, does anyone have a code?

Thanks
Ola

Ola, the Nordisk rims on my 78 WR are painted. They did go to anodised rims at some point in the 80's. I will see if I can find out when.
If anyone has the code for the painted rims I would like to know. The anodised ones are not the right colour.

82 models were definitely anodised. I think the earlier gold rims were painted.

Wonder how you would find some of that stuff ? ;D
I have some rims that need doing too.

Thanks, I've also seen that, I think it's a rattle-can. I think it's questionable enough for durability to use 2-pack, so rattlecan is not an option for me. I think it would be hard to even get the tires on whitout hurting the paint.

I think 67Husky's rims look great and would love that colour. ( I have the rims and handlebar stripped and waiting.... ::)  ;))
Also I wonder if it is some kind of clear primer that can be used, so that it's not grey primer exposed when it chips?

I have seen Rust Oleum sold in Mitre 10 stores.

Also if you take a sample or if the code matches a car colour, take the info into a paint shop or an auto accessories place that mixes up paint eg Auto Bahn

I use Rustoleum silver, titanium and hammetone silver for various things including painting DT1 engines and I've found it to be the best rattle can paint out there. I was buying it at Bunnings but they don't carry it any more. I haven't got a Mitre 10 near me (I think) so does anyone else know where to buy it?
