Title: Clutch/Gearbox oil for an XC/CR/WR 250
Post by: Nitram on March 05, 2008, 07:49:25 am
Can anybody tell me the right amount of oil to put into the gearbox/clutch of an '82 250 ?  I have a manual but it seems to be missing the specs page..........
Thanks,
Martin :) :)

1600ss according to my 1983 manual for 250's - 500's.  The 125's run 1400cc

What oil are forum members using in their Husky gearboxes?

I was recommended Castrol VMX 80 but it appears to be an 80W oil (nothing on the label tells you what it is - how crap is that from Castrol!) whereas the tech specs for my 430 XC says to use SAE 20W.  The VMX seems to work well with great clutch feel but is it going to do the job and protect the gears and bearings OK?  Anyone else using VMX?

I use VMX 80 in all my bikes and have not had a problem
