Oops. That's been done. 2012! ;D
Whatever class you support, the 2011 Classic MX Championships will be a ripper.
Ah but its the fun of just doing it , Im never going to be in the top ten so why not just have fun Rossco ?A racer once said to me that he couldn't understand why guys go out there to waffle around in mid-pack without any chance of winning. The fact that I had to try and explain why we do it mean't that he'd never understand. Could you imagine how dreary our sport would be if you subtracted those who are competing just for the sheer fun of it?
Dont forget we need startline babes aswell Col. 8)at last!
How many will you require young Mic?is that an offer for my very own personal pit tootsie?
Maybe a silly question but which club is running the event?Brisbane MotorCycle Club
Brent
:) Hi Brent J we do have it good here in Queensland with all the varied tracks and clubs. June is particularly good this end of qld
with having BMCC holding MX Championships at Wyaralong and QVMX holding their 2 day event at end of month at Biddadaba.
I am very lucky to be living close to both and looking forward to riding at both.
I am sure you will enjoy your holiday over here then. Regards Lisa QVMX/Foxys better half
They are still to build the Natural Terrain track which should be starting soon. There are no starting gates as it's a ride park facility not a race track.
They won't be changing the parking area (pits) for a one off vintage meeting but i believe they will modify 1 of the moto tracks to suit.
I wouldn't go on what's there now, they still have the natural terrain track to build. The existing tracks are visible from the car park now.
Would be a pity if the pits are as far away as is stated from the tracks, as we all like to watch while working on bikes, hope they have a good think, about the fact we're there for a 3day meet

It was three days at coffs but it wasn't essential to be there Friday from memory. I'm sure it will be what will be essential only.
You will all notice a big change in the rules for 2012; the split has now taken place and there is now Classic MX for Pre 78 and older and Post Classic MX for pre 90. There are a few points that should be made so here we go
Classic MX;Everything remains effectivly the same except we are adding acceptable follow-on machines and 2 examples are the DT250B and TS400 center port models. Why? these bike are essentially the same as pre 75 bikes and cheap and available; there must be ways for people to get entry level bikes and this move is designed to make it accessable and cheap to get a bike and go racing.
In the pre 65 and pre 60 please note the frame section that will allow you to build a special easily but keep in mind you will still need period engine, forks, wheels etc and the bike can not be made using components from a later era. For example you cant use a head stock from a YZ80 in your made up frame or triple clamps from a 73 Canam.
Post Classic MX;
Pre 90 is in
Age racing in EVO
Otherwise the same as it was
Brisbane has the Classic MX Championship for 2012 and Tasmania the Post Classic
Canberra has put in for the Dirt Track and it may well be negociated to run a combined meeting for the DT alone. There is strong interest for the MX Nats for future years but as yet no proposals for the 2013 and onward events
The section 18 of the rule book has been removed and completly replaced with simpler rules that should make it a lot easier to understand

What happened to a pre 85 sidecar support class? l thought they were to be included? My own opinion but to do 3 race's and call yourself an Australian champ bit of a joke realy l mean come on.. Wouldn't it be better to do 5 race's and drop your worst result, l feel sorry for the guy who travels from all over to have a DNF or a bad race and lose the chance of doing ok.Popeye all thru the 70's and 80's the Australian Motocross Titles were decided over 2 moto's on 1 day ;)
not going to drive 1200km plus to ride one bike ,it goes the same for the post classic one bike so thanks to the w#@kers who puched for the splitThere were a hell of a lot more people for the split than against it..

obviously can't please everybody all the time.
Hi Ekka, what bike do you have ?Mx 250 74 mod
1200ks thats nice try 10hr boat trip and 1900 ks each way . why not enter the 250 in the open class as well ?
it says 263 and over, for pre 65, pre70 and pre78 but not for pre75 (is this an editorial mistake)
Col. are you running pre 75 "all ages" as well as age specific events
Noel

If the grid is not filled with open class bikes Im sure the promoters will allow a 250 to race , In 2011 at SA there where 250 s in the open classes . There is also the age class , so with one pre 75 250 there are a possible 4 races . pre 75 250, pre75 open , age pre 75 250 , age pre 75 open .
You shopping trolley people are nutters....dont know why you will turn up....Vwalter will kick your arses. ;DVwally needs a passenger, and I reckon you're the man Davey.
Hi,
when trying to fill in classes on nominate it wants to charge me for ever class entered,
not for bike entered ( i am planning to ride 3 classes on 2 of my bikes, 7 classes all together)
is there away around this on line or should i just send by mail
cheers
Noel
Coming along nicely. Biggest class at this point Pre78 250, followed by Pre75 250, then Pre 65 250. Do we see apattern emerging?
Just a quick jump from the "nice track" thread. Can we make the track 'look' vintage as well.Vaughan,
i.e. no tyres lying everywhere and maybe classic bunting flags like we used to have?
Just askin'.

No open fires, only fire drums in set positions provided by the Park.
It can get cold at night (even in Qld ) so be prepared.

Hang on there Freaky #52 is only one number from #53, not 16??? :Dwoops my math is shit. thats 4 bikes x 3 plate = 12 .
Question from left field---what about camping for spectators.? I have some guys that want to come and have a look and camp over. Any idea what that will cost and where they will be sited ?here's the link Vaughan,
Those are the correct dates :) scrutineering and sign on starts Friday from 12pm racing starts Saturday
Keep Smiling :)
Jackie Mac
Wyaralong Park, between Beaudesert & Boona, 45min West of Gold Coast and the
same South-west of Brisbane.
150 entries, three days to go. It will be necessary to combine with other riders in each pit space where possible, as space will be at a premium. A suggestion is to use the marked out space as your pit (together with other riders,) and camp in the "overflow area".Several advantages ( it's just as close to the action) and it will be quieter, you can come and go in the car, less dust etc. Those not camping MUST share with others in the pit area.Col why is the pit area so limited? There is so much vacant area opposite the track.
150 entries, three days to go.
No idea of the longrange forecast-but then again - nor do they :D :D
Wicked...... thats a long and luxurious track. made my day them pics vandy. been wondering with a quick calcualtion of money if i was doing the right thing, youve answered that question.Freaky the vintage track is in the foreground of those photos, not the other tracks you see in the background of the first and third shots.

wil my mum have to clamber far from the pits to get a good look???there'll be a spectator area full length of the start straight that'll offer views of most of the track ;).

What's the simplest travel route from Brisbane to the Moto Park?for you Mike,
What is the road called where the track is ? The Navman wants to know . Or any road in Town will do . As long as we get to Whyaralong. Just doing final loading now . ThanksGoan road is the name of the entrance road into Qld Moto park but it doesn't show up on Google, so it may not show up on your navman.
sign posted from Boonah right vandy !!if you whack "wyaralong queensland" into google maps,

you'll see Beaudesert-Boonah Rd (#90).
if your coming from Boonah Freaky, you'll see on google the road (#90) turns right at Coulson.
Take it.
it's about 2klms or less further on and THEN you'll see the Qld Moto Park sign where you'll turn right into good old "Goan Rd"

Hi, will the scrutineering card be issued at sign on
Work commitments interfering again looks like l won't get there this weekend so everybody have fun ride hard and stay safe...... Mmm bugger.that sure is a real bummer Popeye,
that sure is a real bummer Popeye,
especially as we had a real prime spot for you in the shade with full views of the track complete with the drink of your choice and a back~rub girl...
actually,
it was to be right next to the jelly wrestling arena...
oh well,
work comes first hey...
you have fun now
Err.... that would be my spot then Vandy??? ;DNo.
Is there a website detailing this weekend, ie race and practice schedule, admission prices, track layout maps etc?
Can't find much detail on the BMCC or QLD Moto park sites?
(For locals not camping the whole weekend)
I can't find the bmcc website, anyone got a link?
Thanks for the reply Jackie,
But it doesn't tell me what I need to know? ??? ???
I'm just spectating, not a competitor, so need to know when the actual racing starts and how much to get in each day?
I hope to be there Friday arvo. Is there anykind of weather update as I was planning to camp?

According to the bureau of maybe-ology, it might be a bit wet :( However the upside is that if it's a bit wet, the cloud cover usually means it isn't as bloody cold :)

Just wishing Col,Glenn all the helpers, volunteers and most of all the competitors a great nationals!!the phone service isnt too good at track in hills,.West aussies-placing two 2nd's and a third as of yesterdays end.Today is another race day with rain all night 40km west of track.may have reached the vmx campers.
I wish I could have engineered it so I could be there but it wasn't to be.
Since 2006 this will be the second nats I have not been able to attend but I am hoping to get to 2013 nats, (where ever that will be). May you all have a fat time kind regards from West Oz!
Nick Maxfield (vmxwa)
Looks fantastic. The organisers/volunteers deserve a big pat on the back and a few free beers. Bloody hell that is great advertisement for VMX, a full field , everyone and the track well presented and spectators/marquees in the background.Top stuff.
So much for all the doom, gloom, and misery about The Split. Hats off to Col and his team, well done all.And yet another kick in the shins to the Negative Nevilles who keep telling us that pre 75/pre 78 is dead and buried. I think there's a few more years left in the old division yet thanks to Col Metcher, Vandy, DT and the Brisbane club and all of the other true believers. ;D
Absolutely fantastic to see the pre 78 nationals so well supported! ;D
Editor Ken is there, so hopefully he is working hard.... ;)
Not many tracks in the world could boast being "friendly" for all classes raced on one weekend but this one can.

That was best June long weekend in a long time. Even better getting a 3rd in the Pre 250's
That jumper makes me look fat Freaky, or maybe better just lose some weight. Pretty bad when the announcer call ya a big unit lol :D
Even better getting a 3rd in the Pre 250'sHeard the NSW Police force gave you a extra encouragement award on the way home. Well done :) :)

Great weekend boys ;D.. Fraze... Freaky.... Col.. DT.. volunteers on the track & that lady who sat at the till during sign-on.... love your work.. Weekend threw up a bunch of challenges for all ya'll and the meeting still flowed... apparently presentation took a while... Don't care since no tropies for me :'(....they say they were well done by the time they were handed out ;)..... to be fair I'd be tipping with all the protesting >:((seems to be a QLD thing bugger all in taz vic & sa but the last couple of QLD rds its been rife... cheating or bad losers... something stinks up there though) U W.A. folk are awesome the way U keep attending...Ha. Glad you saw the get off. Felt like a crowd pleaser. The 125 is all show and not enough go. Going to have to rectify that one. Hope you can stay healthy so we can go at it next time.
My weekend sucked. Started early .. Big Sandwiches maico x71 250cc.. didn't see u stopped on the hill in practice... I appolagise for trying to ram my elsinore in your tailpipe... thats not code for anything by the way... It hurt me more than it hurt U evidently... Gave me a whopping corky left thigh & belted my knee cap.... also gave me a rib complaint that forced me to frock up & withdraw.. taking little breaths & curtsying . Got the week off work so its not all bad
I was wrapped that my bro could take 1 off Brad Grant-Kenny Vanberslow ;).. What was up with that 125 thing ?????? Too many weights not enough speed ball huh aye bro LOL??? I nearly hit U in practice too when it stopped :o.. pay back was almost a bitch ... hmm... that huck&buck right in front me in the last pre78125 moto chasing JT yoh!!! :o Nasty... Glad I was standing behind the fence.. Glad U jumped straight up too...
no bar during the day was a bit harsh :(... Boona was way far 2 go 4 kentucky straight :P hic* Bet Tazzy will have a functioning bar & no queenslanders to cheat or protest so pre 90 titles will go off.. ;D

Nathan .... first race on Sunday was pre 75 250 event 3 and the first corner was as greasy as a butchers p----k ....the line was out wide stay clear of the traffic and gun it thru the dipper and balance it thru the off camber left hander. It was an honour to work with such a proffesional rider. Despite what davey crocket said about your riding abilities on day one ;D steven
A special thanks to my factory mechanic who jetted the Tm to perfection and gave me a G up after every race ;D
Also thanks to Flying DG for the most competitive bike I've ever had. I had the fastest lap time on this, faster than on my '77 400.What's the story on the bike Brad? That looks to be a hell of a hole shot ;).
Thanks Mark. I bought the bike ( a 440) from Doug ( flyingdg ) and it is a well sorted machine and pretty to boot. Plenty of hand made alloy parts such as tank, airbox, side plates, rear brake pedal and head stay. Brakes are deadly and the clutch rivals a new bike. If you ever get the chance to deal with Doug don't hesitate. You won't find a more helpful, honest guy.QuoteAlso thanks to Flying DG for the most competitive bike I've ever had. Congratulations on your multi wins mate.
You look like Roger D sliding that foot and cranking it over. ;)I tried to race the phantom but it threw the chain twice on my and it had a fuel blockage in the first of the races so I gave up on it. I shared it with a friend and he sorted it and raced it all weekend. He tried to buy it off me all weekend. ;D it's the only bike that was finished too close to the meeting to sort the bugs out. Looking forward to riding it again. False neutrals are the only negative but I think it's a matter of getting used to it.
Did you buy the Maico from Doug or just follow his build on the blog? Did you race the Phantom?
Thanks Mark. I bought the bike ( a 440) from Doug ( flyingdg ) and it is a well sorted machine and pretty to boot. There's nothing as lethal as a well set up 440 Maico. If you've got the clutch set up properly and the crank balanced to lessen the notorious 440 vibration it's just up to how good a rider you are. There aren't too many that'll beat you to the first corner......as the photos clearly show ;D.
thats a cool little video and for some reason i see the humour in it.

Big Toe - That film is so cool! Sorry for saying, but I was laughing most of the way thru.
Sorry, but I loved the bit where you rode over the guy. And I really like your petrol tank.
Film is totally Nek Minnit-plus!!
Don't let that stop you. My first bike was a '79 gt80. I didn't know three quarters of the bikes even existed. Earliest model bike I now have is pre 65.
Anyhow, I enjoyed my first look at a classic vmx event, although I doubt I'll get a pre 78 bike, I've never even ridden a pre 78 bike (my first bike was a 81 model when I was 12), the event looked like it was well run and I enjoyed watching :D

Does this belong to Dave Tanner (I guess by the race number it might as it's almost his ozvmx login)?
bit "X"ee;)
X marks the spot, even got caught out myself going through scrutineering.. :)
" Lean the bike up along side that fence over there sonny and go get youself
3 Xs " But i got none sir. " just beg borrow or steal mate thats the only way you are gunna get that bike passsed. ;D
I came across a number of people who needed an X on their number plate and chose to cut up a number or draw an X with permanant marker rather than borrow one of my many rolls of black insulation tape????????????? I don't get it. ::)
I think he was no. 4, someone check the program n see if it was a kwaka. It had the bright green tank.
I keep saying if OZ VMX had an inbuild spell checker none of this would happen.... blame graeme. ;)

No complaints here! I love it that other competitors can win something and not necessarily place as such. Just makes it an even better event.
