What are you building Dave?

I am building a special Mark, I have a Honda xl 350, and I have spare engine cases, I have a friend that has a xl350 in a bultaco frame
I did own a CZ with a XL350, but that slipped out of my hands to another friend, I just have a soft stop for these hybrids, Rob Jolly from NZ raced a maico with a 250 xl in it and I am not sure which would be the better frame, CZ, Maico or Bultaco. The Cz that I owned for a short I liked so much it was neat. What do you think Mark.

That'd be Mike Jolley and his legendary Maicosport, a regular on the forum.
There's another thread discussing which frame makes the best XL candidate and my vote went to the Husky frame. I've built CZ and Monty framed XL's and the problem with them is that you need to lower the bottom frame rails to get the swingarm pivot in line with the crank/sprocket centre line to facilitate correct chain tension and good handling. The problem with both the CZ and Monty (and I suspect Bully frames) is that the bottom rails are too narrow to allow room for the large Honda sump. The Maico and Husky frames are wide enough to allow the sump to slip between the rails, wiping the need to lower them. The main problem with these swaps are that they initially appear to be simple but once you get started all sorts of problems raise their heads and unless you're a lateral thinker and good welder you're in for a whole lot of hurt.
My picks are 1:Husky....2: Maico and 3: Stock.
