Title: Wanted BSA A7-A10 Frame
Post by: firko on October 03, 2011, 01:10:43 pm: I'm in need of a pre 1960 BSA swingarm frame to suit an A7, A10 or similar in any usable condition. It's not going into a concourse resto so as long as its reasonably straight and reasonably cheap I'll be happy.

Actually it's no big deal. GD66 is spot on, I'm indeed going to put Pre 60 class TriBSA together but don't hold your collective breath for it to be finished any time soon. I've been doing a bit of a stocktake on all of my accumulated parts, placing them into 'current build', 'future build' and 'sell off' categories. My poor old Triumph T100SC 500 engine has been sitting on the shelf without a purpose in life for way too long so after rejecting fitting it to my Sprite and Hindall Ducati frames for vastly different reasons and missing out on getting my old Metisse back, I've figured that the cheapest and most sensible route is to build a pre-60 TriBSA.

Besides the engine I've accumulated a BSA Victor tank, B50MX seat, a sweet NOS set of aftermarket up-pipes and a couple of sets of alloy mudguards and mounts. Last Friday a mate donated a set of fifties era BSA Goldy forks, 21" conical hub front wheel and modified QD rear wheel to which I'll fit my Borrani mudcatcher rims. All I need is a frame and a few little things and I'll be ready to go. I missed out on an A-10 frame on eBay last night but I'm sure another will come up reasonably soon.....as I said, there's no great hurry ;) .

Post by: GD66 on October 05, 2011, 07:58:54 pm: Good call ! Considering there were a number of them around in the day that worked well, and that's about the best bang-for-your-buck you could get in a pre-'60 race bike, it makes a lot of sense. Hopefully a few more will appear...

Post by: Curly3 on October 05, 2011, 08:09:25 pm: GD, they were still pretty competitive in the early 60's, my fathers Tiger 100 won the 7 hour race at Musswellbrook in 62, later the engine was twingled and was about 8 laps in the lead late in the first ever 6 hour at Nepean, 68?, before splitting the oil tank.
They were a good thing and I reckon it should go to the top of the list Mark.
