Title: We have a winner!
Post by: Tahitian_Red on September 27, 2011, 02:49:25 am
As far as I can tell it's a 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84.   ;D

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-YZ-YAMAHA-YZ250-Vintage-Racer-yz-250-cr250-dirt-bike-YZ490-yz125-kx125-cr125-/180729613235?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item2a14530bb3#v4-41

Please do not take this as an indictment of our educational system.  I blame it on spell-checker.  ::)

I think his $2.50 price could be about right  :D

And peace be with you ;D.

I think it starts with a '74 DT250 frame engine and rear wheel doesn't it?

At least the price is reasonable. You could break it up for the parts.

Love the air filter :P.

Because of the radial head I was thinking it was a '76-'77 DT250 that ran hard up the ass of an '83 YZ490.  ::)

It sure must look funny when it's on it's wheels...  let's face it, 10-12" of front travel with 4" at the back is going to work well.  :o

I was thinking the same thing Ajay ;D That's very cunning sales technique sitting it on the stand like that. I reckon it'd look like a bad dream chopper wannabe from the Deus ex Machina show sitting on its wheels :o.

I can just see the new owner turning up at the Oz Championships and arguing with the scrutineers - "Of course it is stock!!! Just the way it came out in '74".

Perhaps Dave Tanner can add his 2 cents worth…

It's art..........................a modern exitential interpretation of a classic scrambles machine as used in the era, worthy show piece in any collection.

Still overpriced at $2.50

you guys are so picky ::) all glass half empty types. The seller does mention that it's not perfect being it is vary old and vintage he also states that it has only been lightly restored imagine if it had been heavily restored?

It's also got a renthal bar pad, and pillion pegs! how many times have you wanted to double someone around an mx track, but been scared of chopping their toes off!

btw, does anyone know of any "sippers" in the phoenix area?

Less than 3 days left and she's already up to $335 US!

I can't imagine either end being worth more than $150.

He's done a top job on the polishing.  That bike is a credit to him and by the sound of his spiel he's a pretty clued up bloke when it comes to bikes.

I'd buy that for my collection, it would be the most talked about bike in the shed.  I might build a replica.
