Picked up a YZ465h yesterday & rode it today. Bike is a US import & has Scotts engraved on the top barrel fin both sides, has a near new DG pipe but no idea of what the muffler is
Looks like I need to do a fork seal, thinking I may just go over the forks properly. How much & what weight oil?
The bike runs fairly rich, has been suggested that I start from standard jetting & check the reeds are closing properly. Sudman was able to tell me the original pilot & mains but what would be the original needle & jet?
All in all I'm pretty happy with the bike & reckon with a bit of fine tuning it will be a whole lot of fun to run in evo open

Clymer says 604ml of oil or 150mm below the top. 15 wt is what I have in my 250 and 465. I assume you are like myself and the rest of the VMX community and aren't 70 kgs any more ;D ;D ;D

My 465 jetting was all over the place and was sooo much better when I went back to standard. Still needs a little playing with but close ;)

Thanks for that, will help me to see if the right jets are in there. Will check reed condition while I've got the carb off
What pegs would you suggest getting to replace the standard stubs that make even CZ pegs look big

send your footpegs to GMC - they will come back awesome and then bolt straight on!!!

I use these chinese ones. For the old YZ's you have to buy the PW80 ones. They bolt straight on, no drilling or mucking about shortening springs.

Have a shop around on Ebay and you will find them way cheaper than the one I posted above. From memory $28 including postage 8)

Depends on how many feet I put on the scales at the time.
Thanks for all the help, carb is coming off tonight & I'll take it to work tomorrow for a good clean out & check what jets are in there & their condition

Ok, just pulled carb & reed block & had a quick look.
Reeds are steel which I guess would be standard & look to be sealing up properly
Couldn't read pilot jet due to corrosion/staining but will throw in a new 45 not used on my CZ
Main, needle & slide match the Clymer numbers, had tried lowering the needle yesterday with no noticeable change
Only markings I could find on the needle jet were 247 midway up the side, should it stick out past the bottom of the casting around 5mm? Why I ask is brass shower head type piece is upside down compared to the Mikuni on my CZ

247 on the needle jet would be the correct series - it should have another number on it as well.

Lots of info and pictures here for information. They are excellent to deal with too in my experience.
There is even a downloadable tuning manual. 8) 465H has a VM38ss

Did the first Mr VMX round over here this weekend, pissed down all night making the track very soft especially once the grass was ripped up
Fitted new needle valve along with new 45 pilot & 380 main during the week, the Q0 needle jet hasn't turned up yet. I'd have to say the bike runs a lot better
Talked with a guy who has 1 for sale & he said his runs a 340 main but he knows of another running a 290 :o. Don't think I'll try that out
Before the next round in a months time all the controls will be changed & a new clutch cable fitted as at the end of each race at least 1/2 the lever travel was freeplay
