Really, really poor forward play. The forwards were played off the park by a team that went in there with pride and comittment..something the Wallaby pack lacked big time. James Horwill showed no leadership under pressure, the usual suspects in the backs did their best but without the forwards making the ground for them they got hammered. All of the fancy footwork of the Bolshoi Ballet wouldn't have worked against the Irish tonight.
It 'ain't over yet but the boys had better perk up quite a bit. >:(

Congrats to the Irish, but gee, what a fine example of all that is boring in the game they play in, Heaven?

Shit. I woke up this morning to find it wasn't a bad fuc*ing nightmare. The Wallabies did indeed play the worst game I can remember. We've now been beaten by Samoa and Ireland ... awful.
If the All Blacks win the RWC and the Warriors come up trumps in the Rugby League our dear friends over the ditch will become insufferable. ::)

Might be time for Deans to eat some humble pie and get Nathan Sharpe back out of the crypt...

You might be right although on any other day Vickerman is perfect for injecting a bit of mongrel, Sharpe was starting to show his age towards the end of the Super 14 season although he'd definitely bring a bit of impact off the bench. Either way, the squad's picked and I don't think the rules allow them bring any more outsiders in now. We really missed Pococks skills at the breakdown and Moores lineout throws and control of the front half of the scrum. I know it's only two players but they're absolutely essential to the success of our forwards. I think not bringing a back up open side flanker may come back to haunt the Wallabies. McCalman was way out of his skill bag of tricks doing a job he's not trained for. We can be really thankful it wasn't Richie McCaw on the other side of the rucks during the breakdown though...if it had been the score would have been double what it was last night.

I'd like to think that the Wallabies have learned a huge lesson from this and that they go in and hammer both the USA and Russia. I know those teams should be easy meat but the Irish should have been as well. The USA are playing some well structured rugby so they won't be easybeats. They need a psychological lift that only a big win can give.

You just got a shitty pool Firko, Australia would probably have had a good chance at beating Namibia or Tonga.  ;D ;D ;D

I'm glad I changed my original forum name, I don't want to be mistaken for you Curly. ;D
We enjoy a challenge, now we have to beat both the Bok's & the Black's, just to make the final.
Bring it on. ???

And an in form USA and a huge pack Russia. Although I think we're pretty sure to make the finals, nothing's as certain as it was before the Ireland game. :-\

Firko don't blame your young team for playing the worse game you have ever seen a wallaby team play. First off, the OLD Irish pack have taught them a good lesson on tight 5 play and how to slow a game down with brawn and brains. Your young fallas needed to not play the game the Irish way but their own running style. When they did they looked dangerous but the young team for what ever reason tried it on up front against a much more experienced pack. I can see your team improving and gaining much more experience out of that last game they played than the last two years before it. Secondly, it's about time the poor old Irish boys had a win over you guys in a RWC match, I mean look at the other games the two of you have played. Bloody Campese running the length of the field to bet the Irish in the last minute. But it has opened up the rest of the series.
Can you tell I'm half Irish.  Lol
Will be thinking of ya Firko while I watch the rest of the world cup. Good luck for the rest of your games
Cheers DJ

I just realised, we've got a 100% record against the Blacks in World Cup semi finals.
Maybe we played "Doggo".
I doubt it but it's a good theory. ;D
