Title: BSA tank
Post by: mainline on September 16, 2011, 07:42:17 pm
I'm looking for a GP style tank for the b40 project. Patina (dents) are cool if it keeps the price down.
Fibreglass replica's are fine too. I'd like to get this thing ready for the nats next year. Cheers

You will find it extremly difficult to find a real GP tank but you might be able to find a standard B44 alloy tank. The shape is almost the same but the capacities vary and the caps vary. GP has a bung and the normal B44 has flip up Monza cap. Expect to pay seriously big dollars either way. You can buy aftermarket alloy tanks though. Sammy Millers in UK and Speed and Sport in USA have them too.

That's true Leith but I think Paul's building this bike on a really strict budget. Have you priced a new B44 style tank lately?
Paul....I've just gone through the tank stash and I think I've found something that might just fit the bill. It's a bit of a roughie and will probably need some repairs and lining for modern fuels but if you like the look of it......she's yours for a bottle of medium quality red my friend ;D.

Yeah even the replicas are expensive.

Yeah, I have seen the replica's, and would love one, but can't bring myself to spend $600 on a tank I may dent in the first corner.
Hey Firko, have you tried the Cask Grange yet? :-)
