I know that jealousy is a curse - but I admit it I am deeply flawed.  :o

Firko,

Dave is a super nice and super fast dude.  He is pretty much the fastest vintage MXer on the West Coast.  The only person I've seen give him a true test was Pat Foster, who is a test rider for TransWorld Motocross.  They were on near identical 74.5 440 Maicos, at the Tulare Cycle Park.

That is a better super plan than mine at the mo :P, or anyone else who's using the stock market as a basis :-\.

What beautiful work and what a grand showroom! 8) I can fully relate to having 1 part and deciding to build a bike around it. A part I started with was a simple nos tank cover that would fit nothing I owned. I sourced every part over 12 months from here in Oz, the UK and the US and it actually turned out to be one of my better builds :)

I admire blokes like Dave Coupe. Collecting old race bikes is a passion that many of us are caught up in but 150 bikes is pretty impressive. There are guys just like him here too, Edgar Phipps owns a very large collection that includes four Metisses stored in a purpose built barn, Jonesy's just put a 200k extension onto his house purely to house his growing bike collection and has run out of space already and Anthony Suttors 100 plus Bultaco collection is pretty damn impressive.

Even though I've got the collector mentality, I'm fairly restricted by space and my self funded retirement finances to 8-10 bikes. I've had over 20 at various times in the past but the current numbers are at just about maximum comfort level. I'm continuousy fighting the battle to keep the space I've got uncluttered. ;D

Very, very cool 8) 8).  I can relate to the way he said "it started off with one, then two, then four".  I think I'm on the way  ::)
I can see how (if you had the room) you could end up with 150.  Hmmm .... wonder if he's still married  :-\
I find all the old bikes interesting in their own little way - obviously Dave does as well.  I'd love to save all of them but ....

Brett i think you'll find it's a YZ125g made to look like Hannah's works 125 of the era.

Awesome stuff love to know how much the shed and contents is insured for. Thought much the same as his comments on the Cannondale, was a dud back then but history has been much kinder to it being 12 years ahead of it's time. Just needed some deep pockets and Japaese attention to detail.
