Pretty cool bike but pretty expensive too.

8,271.42 AUD Hmmmmm, exclusivity and functionality in the one package, hmmmmm, whats that worth ;)?
-
Might they be RM250B forks? What category of racing would that fit into?
-
too many iffy bits for my liking
-
Would belong in pre 78 if they are RM forks. The hub/forks also look a lot like 77 PE250 items too.
-
This bike originally belonged to Larry Reed (Oregon) and sold last April for $3250 USD. Don't know how it ended up back in the UK :-\ it's an RM370 front end, Gemco pipe and the rest is basically as it came.

Some Pom out to make a fast buck, but timing is wrong in this market.... look nice with my other Cheneys but not at that price.

In '73 you could buy the complete chassis as pictured for $600usd.
-
Not one of Cheney's better looking bikes IMHO. They just don't look 'right'!

Doc...Have you got a photo of Sully's ex Vegas Bob Neilson, ex Dave Tanner and ex Cosi Cheney TM400?
I can't find my shots of it. It'll be interesting to see if the seller sells his Cheney for the dough he's seeking.
If he does there'll be a few Cheney owners on this forum smacking their lips!
It's interesting to see the different frames old Eric made for the 2 strokes and little 4 strokes. The single downtube Suzuki frame diamond appears to be very similar to the cantilever Honda design, back suspension differences aside but the single downtube Husky frame harks to the earlier twin downtube design of my Yamaha. My Yamaha Cheney was made in 1969 but by 1973 the design had changed significantly enough to look totally different.

I'm with Doc...the Cheney TM looks far better with a Suzuki style tank.

Cheney might have been a fine frame maker, but his tanks were truly ugly.
A sleeker tank and a bit of trimming of the seat profile makes these bikes look 1000% better [IMHO - not that anybody cares :D] and look about 20 kilos lighter.
-
He's got some pretty cool stuff in his shop.Talked to a guy with a Cheney CZ at CD8,also some trick hybrids Maico/Triumph.VVVery nice! Can't remember his name :P

Firko I have detail shots of Ray's TM but none showing the diamond ::) the shot below was lifted from VMX mag when it was featured and before Ray owned it. The MkII is the same frame as the bikes pictured above but Ray's retains the TM forks/wheels and tank.

interesting fact is the Cheney frame weighs only 2.5lbs lighter than the Suzuki item. The rest of the 35.5lbs saving of the completed 'light weight' bike is taken off elsewhere with namely the wheels, forks, tank, seat and swingarm being the biggest weight loss areas.

Although it looks totally different to the RH70, this is the bike that Olle Peterssen took to Japan where the factory used it as the basis for the World conquering RH70.

and here is Olle Pettersson in Japan 1968...

The bike also won the 1970 All Japan Championship with Taichi Yoshimura aboard. He was also 125cc All Japan Champion in the same year riding an RA70.

His name is Doug Aichison from Brisbane. I sold the Cheney CZ to Doug, having bought it from ? Porter of Adelaide [sponsor of Andy Cauldicott for a while].Don't know it's history beyond that.
