Yes, so long as it looks like an Enduro bike (stick a headlight on it)
Tell us more Geoff.
Grahame.
Not too many details at hand at the moment, just wanted to get the date up so guys can plan for it.
Diamond Valley will be running it at a venue they used for an event a few months ago.
They ran a sprint on the Sat. and then MX on the Sunday. I didn’t get to see the sprint course, only the MX on the Sun.
I believe they will be utilizing both the MX track and the sprint course for the Vinduro.
More details will surface soon.
The guys just had so much fun at the club MX

Some guys just wanted to dance they were so happy
(http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a393/gmcloa/Ballan/ballan-2011-122-CB.jpg)
While others just wanted to run around the course making aeroplane noises
(http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a393/gmcloa/Ballan/ballan-2011-138-run1.jpg)
Sprinting around on foot proved to be just as competative

Generally there was smiles all around

And it was given the thumbs up

As far as I know it is gonna be a combined event with the Classic Scramble Club. That means you could bring a motocross bike, as long as it pre 1975. It is a pretty short loop, so it will be more of a sprint or special test!
I believe the actual location is near Ballan. I thought the CSC was running the event, rather than DVMCC, but I could be mistaken.
Like the man said, more details to follow.

You may be right Tex, I may have my wires crossed

The Bus Boyz and crew have cancelled our annual Jamison two day ride to participate in this ride.
Big or small loops any excuse to ride a Victorian Vinduro is good enough for us. Support the host club and do yourself a favor .....be there! ;D
As the Ramones say at the start of their concerts.......
"Hay Ho, let's go"

E-mail Tex to have the Vinduro Victoria newsletter e-mailed to you.
And the next Victorian event is...
The next Victorian event will be a Special Test / Sprint event at Ballan on October 23.
It’s a combined event with the Classic Scramble Club, so pre 1975 motocrossers and pre 1985 vinduro bikes are both welcome.
The loop is a short one, mostly consisting of a natural terrain motocross track, with some additional tree-dodging thrown in for the vinduro bikes!
We’re talking about 2 - 3 minutes to complete a lap. It’ll be a great opportunity for some testing and tuning.
Stay tuned for more details.
Check here for details too...

As per GMC's post, that's about all the details we have right now, including confirmation that it will be run by the CSC.
It's a combined event, so as stated bikes must comply with either CSC pre 75 motocross guidelines, or standard vinduro ones (Pre 85, headlight, tail light...).
Apparently the CSC have a 'real' event a couple of weeks later, so there should be a few guys with old scramble bikes having a run before race day. I'm looking forward to it!

That's the spirit! For everyone else I can't stress enough though that this is a short course, more like a 'special test', not a full vinduro loop.
Entry form, details of camping, and the like should be available soon.

As the Ramones say at the start of their concerts... "Hey ho, let's go

Entries are now available thru the "circle of trust" ;D

Unfortunately I won’t be at this event now. :'(
Seems we have a date clash, DVMCC has been planning an Extreme Enduro at Murrindindi for quite a while and Dangerous Dave and I had made a pact to once again combine forces and show the “kids” how it’s done.
What could be more extreme than a couple of fifty something year old guys on 30 something year old bikes taking on the modern’s.
No doubt tales of woe are soon to follow.
I guess I’ll see you guys next at Castella
I believe Ballan will be an easy course so it will be a good event if your going to try a Vinduro for the first time.
Being relatively close to Melb. with freeway access it will be a good event to just spectate if you’re interested in seeing what these events are about.
For those not in the ‘circle of trust’
ENTRY FEE:
$50. (This includes MV Rec. Licence and MV rider levy) $45 for CSC members,
$30 for MA licence holders,
$25 for CSC members & MA licence holders.
Entries will only be taken on the day.
This event is open to Vinduro pre ’85 and VMX pre ’75 motorcycles. Riders must be 16 or over. This is solely a practice day to test your ‘special test’ skills on grass track and tree dodging and while recorded times will be kept they will be only available on request by the rider. Nom awards or prizes will be given out.
Riders will start 30 seconds apart in the order they signed on; Vinduro and VMX bikes will be using the same course which is designed with exhaust downpipes in mind. The approx. 4 minute lap features a large slightly undulating grass paddock with the course winding in and around the camping ground boundaries and windrows.
A sighting lap will be used to familiarize riders with the course direction and layout before the 10am start. Riders briefing will be at 9.30. The event will run from 10am to 3pm.
Riders will do 6 timed laps (or more as entries allow) in their start order from 10am to 1pm. (While this seems minimal, experience in running other Sprint events has shown riders will be more than busy) After 1pm riders are free to swap bikes and practice at will; no times will be taken.
First Aid and catering will be provided by the 1st Ballan Scouts, who also run the adjoining Caravan Park. Overnight camping with full facilities $20. Enquiries about cabin/bunkhouse rental please contact Josh on 03 5368 .
Riders will return to their vehicles for refueling, repairs and refreshments and rejoin the event in their start order. Discretion will be used by officials monitoring the start so don’t worry if you skip a few numbers.
Directions to the event. From Melb: take the second Ballan exit off the Ballarat Freeway, turn left towards the town and first road on your right is the Caravan Park entrance. From Ballarat, take the first exit, turn right and then the first right is the Caravan park entrance. Ballan, an hour from anywhere!

Extreme eh? Jeez, you're a brave man GMC! They also have another pony express event on Nov 5, are you doing that one as well?

They are great photos.p.
-
Dunno about brave Tex, there’s a very thin line between bravery & stupidity.
As for the Blacksands on the 5th, well my head has a bad habit of writing out cheques that my body can’t cash.
I will have to see how I survive Murrindindi.
-
Just a reminder that this event is on this Sunday (Oct 23) at Ballan.
It's a combined vinduro & classic scramble event for pre 1975 motocrossers and pre 1985 vintage enduro bikes, run on a natural terrain scramble track. So, it'll be something a little different.
Overnight camping with full facilities is $20 at the caravan park next door to the track. Contact Josh on 0413 775 844 to find out more.
See you there.
Tex
-
Hey Tex, gotta mudmap of where the track is located? :P
-
Its only a stones throw from the freeway, in fact you can see the freeway in the background of some of my pics.
You could even ride your CanAm straight there.
Directions to the event.
From Melb:

More than 40 riders enjoyed a tremendous day! The weather was great, and the track was fun with a capital F. A big thank-you goes out to everyone involved.

The real question is: What happened to Mr GMC at Murrindindi?
-
Spot on Nathan it's been very quiet from up Broadford way. J

The real question is: What happened to Mr GMC at Murrindindi?
Mr GMC had a crap day dnfing with exhaustion.
Too tall gearing and lack of traction on the relentless course of hills left me floundering on some hills with steam pouring out (out of me, not my aircooled bike)
It was a teams event where both members rode the course together in order to survive.
Eventually the coil fell off Dave’s bike so I quickly volunteered to go get help. Once having done so I collapsed under the shade of my tailgate drinking as much water as I could, all the time thinking about what a great day we could have had at Ballan.
As for being quiet in Broadford, well I haven’t been here for a while as I have just finished an 8 day stint in hospital with Pneumonia.
Got out this morning but still feeling a bit second hand.
Now to play the catch up game.
-
Sorry to here about your illness Geoff. Get fit and well for Castella. You really missed a fantastic day at Ballan, but I wont rub it in.
Cheers, Grahame
-
Bloody hell Geoff, we could have done an episode of wife swap. I just got my missus back from Hospi with pnuenomia as well.
Quite a few peeples presenting with this at the moment, thank goodness for the drugzzzzzzzzzzzzz ;D
-
Hope your wifes doing okay Wombat, it bloody knocked me for six.
The first couple of days I was asking them to just put me down.
Ahhh drugs, lovely drugs, must have more drugs, must have them now...
