Cool bike Ross....It makes me want to get stuck into my Antig Maico to get it done for next years HBBB. It's unusual to see a Hagon Maico, the more common were Antig or Elstar for Maicos with Hagons usually housing Yamaha and Butaco motors.  That's a pretty spiffy pipe, any idea who made it?

Unfortunately I took it apart around 1976 as a failed experiment. 250 maico motor really didn't have the horsies. (Chasemores bully and Andy Hornes Honda just blew past it) Raced it mainly at Seymour, Romsey and Bendigo showgrounds with an interesting day out when they first built a short circuit around the car parking area at the Mildura speedway complex. On sold the frame for someone to put a bully motor in and bought a Cole-Elstar from Don Stafford. Had heaps of problems with it so I traded it on a Godden Weslake below in 1978.

Currently have it on the bench and slowly restoring.  Hope to bring it out for a putter shortly.

Hey Mark

Stacker made the pipe, but if you look closely it is basically a standard down pipe reversed and the cones reversed in a couple of spots. Did a good job on it but the rest of the bike was woeful and had to be rebuilt from new.

Not a Maico I know, but who wouldn't want to throw the leg over that?

Here's my Antig Maico hanging on the wall at Jims place before I bought it. I've since picked up another Antig Maico roughie with nice genuine engine plates to suit a Maico and a nice pipe that appears to be an American Cole Bros item.  I'll combine both bikes to hopefully make one good'un. The good thing about the roller I got from Jim is that it's an unmolested original Antig with the rarely seen genuine Antig hubs. It's even got original Antig handlebars so I'll be able to build a fairly original 350 square barrel Antig, much like the bike Cary L'estrange from Condoblin (and others) raced to good effect in the early 70's.
It'll give me something to do in the shed as I'm a bit short of projects at present ::).
