Not much happening in the Italian section so here's a pic of a '77 Beta 125 RC enduro all ready to leave Italy. I'll post another pic in six months when it's here and put back together!

Did you buy it on Ebay? I'm looking for an SWM, beta or Puch & it's starting to look like Italy may be my only hope.

Gee that looks like a Monty rear hub :o
-
It's a Grimeca hub as far as I know. They were used on the majority of the Italian brands.
Noel, no, I didn't buy it on ebay but rather through a guy that contributes to the magazine every now and again. But there's heaps of vintage stuff on Italian ebay and most of the mid/late '70s bikes seem to go for between 500 and 1,000 Euro - too cheap in my opinion! For example, have a look at this 250 Beta that is on ebay at present http://cgi.ebay.it/Beta-GS-250-Regolarita-epoca-vintage_W0QQitemZ360022541445QQihZ023QQcategoryZ9809QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or this very nice Cagiva http://cgi.ebay.it/CAGIVA-RX-125-CROSS-DEPOCA-1981-UNICO-STUPENDO_W0QQitemZ290209594737QQihZ019QQcategoryZ9917QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Also have a look at this site, the guy is very honest and good to deal with I'm told www.mastercross.net Go into the 'Showroom' on the site and then wait a minute for the photos to show up and pick one to give you the details. He has a stunning Aprilia RC 125 enduro that I almost bought except it was a bit expensive.
Happy hunting!

Thanks Ken
That Aprilia is very neat. Check out the SWM in the MX section I would love a blue GS but I don't think i would keep his rear travel extenders.
Whats the approx shipping cost for the Beta.

And maico 31, if you're out there, show us your Beta!

Ken, my Beta is an '81 250 and i need some engine parts to get it running. Any ideas where to get parts from? I bought it on ebay a couple of years ago and i think Trevor Flood imported it new. I'll try and get some photo's.

. Any ideas where to get parts from?
Try Dean Nuttal at [email protected]
This is an old e-mail address but should still work. I have had quotes from him for parts for my Beta trials bike before.

Noel my beta is later than that one, it has a plastic tank similar shape to a maico 490 and it's got leading axle forks and a number plate/ rear guard combo. Tried to attatch a photo but it's too large.
-
Maico31, please PM me and I'll have a chat about parts suppliers.
Thanks

I see you've got the Beta on the track :). How does it go?

Hi Noel - overall, the first outing was great. Jetting of the Bing was the main issue, it was very rich everywhere, especially down low. Since then, I've got a new main, pilot, needle jet and needle (x2) after some discussions with someone who does a lot of Bing jetting. Put the new jets in last week and have started it up but not ridden it yet. VERY responsive of the bottom now, will get a ride in around the neighbourhood this week I hope. Pic in this post and another in new post.
Suppose I better bring it to CD6 eh.
Thanks

Another pic.

Thats great Ken.
You will definitely have to bring it to CD6, I’ll take you up the hills at the back of the park :)
Wasn't there a thread on the best pre78 bike ;)
Is that the right front guard?
Noel.
-
Are we allowed to use this pics for our gallery , Ken ? I love exotics.
-
Noel - no, it's not the right front guard, just one I had hanging around. A more appropriate guard is on its way.
Walter - I've already sent you the shots to use in your gallery, remember?
Regards
