wanted 1980 PE 400 fly wheel or complete bottom end

if you just want to get it running, use the flywheel+stator from a PE175T/X.
drop in and go.

does the 175 ones fit
just got it home and pulled side off it coils shot as well so its gunna be one of those drawn out jobs but cant complain complete bike for 650 just have to chase up new coils and fly wheel then remember how to ride been a few years

Should still be available from Suzuki. Get one while you can. Brand spanking new, strong magnets - good spark. Same deal with the coils or can be found nos on ebay or just get them rewound.

take a PE175T and lift the stator, rotor and CDI and drop it all in. voila! job done.
If you REALLY want a PE400 rotor, they are either bloody expensive or not available.. they had 33% more mass, but when they re-jigged things, it must have hit some harmonic, whereby the magnets tended to crack or destroy themselves. Maybe it was just lousy glue.
In any case, ALL the earlier PE's (175 and 250) happily ran with the lighter flywheels and I once had a functioning PE400 engine on my bench and found it too had the 175 stator and rotor fitted at some time.

On some you will need to drill/machine 2 new slots 90 deg to the original ones in the plate. It will be obvious when you compare it to an original 400 stator though.

Looks liek Mr Suzuki put the prices up just a bit! They were about $350ish back in 03/04. Pretty silly really because even at that price back then not many people would buy them and now even less would buy them at $600. For that price you can get this whole new ignition for the PE

I may have a 175 stator, will swap it for return of my tiedowns..............

leith, how many magnets does he run on that aftermarket fly wheel ......Pe run 3 STD

Not sure exactly but it will more than the std 3 i know that. You would not be able to use this one with std PE stator though.

it lists 175 & 250 yet not 400 wich would be the best to get for my 400

Ah.. I was just about to buy it myself and then all of a sudden the auction finished.. I was only seconds away from buying it! At least you got it at a good price!
I'm restoring a 78 model, 250.. The 400 would have been a nice addition to my shed :(
