Title: Fold Back Shifter for a 79CR250RZ
Post by: Kenneth S (222) on August 15, 2011, 04:44:05 pm
Hi VMXers, I was told at scrutineering for The Lakes that regulations state we have to run a fold back shifter on our bikes. I'm struggling to find a suitable one which fits the CR. Anyone already have this sorted?

I know. Pain in the neck and not true to the model.

Did you ask the scrutineer where the "regulation" is in the rule book? There's folding footrests, but I've never seen folding gear lever. If he can't show you where the rule is printed, tell him where he can put his gear lever....

I understand your desire to have the bike as original as possible but regardless of that and forgetting what the rule book does or doesn't say ... surely you would want to run a folding tip lever in case you drop the thing and damage the gearbox or shifter mechanism?

Well I would anyway.

Just another over zealous "scrutinazi". Although a folding tip may be helpful to the bikes transmission in the case of a fall, he is WRONG on the regulations.
