Title: Rez Shocks on 78-80 CR250
Post by: Tahitian_Red on August 10, 2011, 02:59:44 pm
Anyone running reservoir shocks (Fox or Ohlins) on their 78-80 Honda CR250?  I'm wondering how long the steel-braided lines should be for each side?

Depends where you are intending to mount them. Its a bit of a problem ans everyone has a slighty different solution it seems.

I went and had a look at a Koni remote res instruction sheet i had to see how they sugested mounting the shocks on the 78-80 CR and if it was one of these drawings but it just happened to be that onthe sheet it says 'for honda CR see instruction sheet number.....' which i dont have. These drawings may still give you a few ideas on how to mount them anyway.

If your using the Ohlins then the hose they say for Honda CR250 78/79  should be 500mm for the RHS and 400mm the for the LHS according to their book.

For Fox factory shocks i may know but it would take me too long to find right now so you would get a quicker answer from Thor Lawson.

I have a nice set of 17.5" Fox Factory Shox w/reservoirs.  I want to mount them on my '79 CR250 Fox Replica.  The current rez lines are 305mm and 330mm, so maybe they were mounted on something other than a Honda CR.  Did Husky run 17.5 shocks on any models?

Fox were pretty customizable and could be ordered to suit the customers needs. They may have been for something totally different than a Honda. They have been shorter originally but the customer may have specified longer lower eyes from new. One of my sets is like that. It does not matcch up to any of the specs or application lists for a particular model and it has longer lower eyes fitted. Also, if the top out rubber has deteriorated thay may be giving you a slightly longer measurement than what they actually really are.
