Title: Marlbro Yamaha
Post by: ba-02-xr on February 22, 2008, 08:57:27 am
Does any one know what ever happened to the YZ 250S Marlbro Yamaha's that Bell & Sargent rode. Just for interset sake.

About 10 years ago, I saw one in a bike shop on Elizabeth St. in Melbourne. I was told it was an original one, but sorry I can't remember which shop.  :-\

That model YZ was a rocketship, my mate had one and it was a garanteed holeshot bike lots of top end.
i was watching a dvd yesterday (Thanks again Mainline) with the Marlboro YZ250S of Bell in it. they would have been an expensive excercise to keep looking good with the flouro colors , those wheels would have to been done many times through the year.

I think they dropped the flouro wheels after a while as they were so hard to keep looking good.

There was an article in an early issue of Dirt Action where some guy had one of fluro Bell's bikes in his living room. It didn't sound like he was ever going to part with it.

I remember Chris Ellis doing some exotic welding on Bellys fluro YZ and recall that the bike had some very cool titanium and magnesium parts built to look like stock fittings. The bike was far tricker than the photos showed or the team admitted to.

On the weekend I watched a dvd of the last round of the 86 Mr motocross & the final at the Sydney entertainment centre Aus v USA. This just bought on thoughts of where these awesome bikes are now. John Armstrong

If they were super trick it would have all been down to Warren Willing an absolute wizard on all things 2 Stroke and motorcycle related. From a pic in the latest Rapid mag he was overseeing both Marlboro road and mx teams. What about the white pipe??? ;D

Aparently David & Garry are a distant relo so I have been told. Bell had the sort of day that makes you wonder why you get on a bike. But then the next time you ride you rember why. The whit pipe looks stock. If it looks stock it must be stock. YA right
