I was bidding on issues 4, 6, 7 (2 copies) and 9 of VMX. Set my maximum bid about $30 over the my highest bid and some bustard out bid me with about 5 seconds to go, leaving me know time to rebid :'(
I guess I'll just have to wait until some more are relisted. If the winner is on here, I'll buy the extra copy of issue 7 off you, please, pretty please ;)

Bish> you got SNIPED! It's a fairly common practice now and it's a technique I have used for some time. Underhanded? Maybe! Fair? Fair only counts in tiddlywinks!

its just another tool been using it for years since another forum member put me onto it :) If somthings desirable and you aint sniping then you probably aint getting ;D

Yep, oldest trick in the book. Work out how much you are REALLY willing to pay for it and time it so there's no time for a comeback ;)
Thanks Nathan ;D ;D

If you are being sniped, you simply haven't bid high enough. End of story.
If you bid WAY more than you expected AND at your limit and still got sniped, then that sniper is either ritch or a fool and he is welcome to the item! An auction is simple - me vs another individual. I bid more than enough. If I lose, I buy another day. People who wish to buy cheap simply have to have patience. Sometimes years. Equally, I have seen stupendous amounts paid and another comes up a few weeks later for bugger-all. I like that ;D

Ive got a copy of number 6, 1999 if it's the one your looking for?.

Yeah, I know I was sniped, it wasn't the first and won't be the last time either, I guess the only way around it is to put in an outrageous bid ::)
The set on trademe is actually a good price if you didn't have any issues, but I'm only missing the sold out issues 2-7 (I got issue 1 a while ago), 11-13 and 20-23. If anyone has any spares...

always leave it to last second to bid on ebay ,unless you are just bidding against yourself ;D

Have a look in the for sale section of the forum.

Guys, if sniping is making a bid in the dying seconds thats what I do and I normally win. As other forum members have indicated, I make one bid only and walk away satisfied, if I win or lose.
Bidding days before just pumps up the price and thats not what I'm there to do.

I want a copy of the issue with thr yellow easp jumping drunks hill on the cover-any body got one ??? ???

That's Wasp not easp-I couldn't jump an easp if I tried.

There are several sniper services available. I hate seeing pissy bidders running up an item which would probably go for less (or a non-inflated value) otherwise. Good for the seller though. Often the same bidder has a couple of consecutive bids as he readjusts his high bid - or else is trying to stake a claim to scare off other bidders. Have your max on a snipe and forget it as said earlier otherwise you get caught up in auction fever.

The only way you will beat a snipe is with a snipe ;) manual bids dont cut it ;D
