Title: Mid '80's CR colours.
Post by: evo550 on July 18, 2011, 06:44:39 pm
I'm in the process of putting together a '87 Cr 250 and am doing a bit of head scratching with plastics colours.
All the existing plastics on it are an orange colour, including underside of tank and back of side plates that never see the sun.
But all of the plastics that I have ordered new (nos and aftermarket) are a much darker red.
Anyone have an idea on actual colour from the factory?
Thanks.

The '87 was an orange colour but it's hard to get the right colour in aftermarket plastics, in '88 they went to a darker red and that's the colour most companies stock. I got some UFO '87 plastics from Cassons but they don't have the radiator shrouds.

MD racing products in UK have a lot of older UFO stuff. They may have some NOS 87 bits. Worth asking them.

Yes the guards were the right colour, i've got an '87 and an '89 and it was the '87 orange. Let me check tomorrow to make sure it is UFO just in case i'm mistaken but the colour is good.

Just ordered a genuine front and rear guard from Honda, the price was cheaper than some of the aftermarket stuff out there ???, just hope the '87 number hasn't been superseeded with a '88/'89 number.
While I was there a NOS sideplate caught my eye out the back collecting dust, got it home, but again darker colour...anyone want a '88/'89 left side plate?

My UFO numbers are HO02601061 rear (87-89)
                            HO02600061 front (87-99)
If yours are different, I might be able to exchage them.
Thanks.

I got the right coloured bits for my 87 125 from honda in the last 12 months.

Still need the rear brake stuff? I've got it all, in working condition.
