Title: Rockley Vinduro Poker Run 26/27 August
Post by: HuskyPete on July 13, 2011, 12:11:59 pm
The Rockley Vinduro Poker Run will be run on the 27/28 of August, camping available at the track from Friday afternoon onwards, no riding allowed till the event starts, we have added three new grass track sections to the track, one of the grass track sections is nearly 2ks long (it is sensational, the big 500 Husky was awesome around it ;D ), we have also redirected some of the sections through the trees and now the loop will be close to 15ks long, the prizes will be a set of tyres for first place, a set of tools for 2nd place and tie downs for 3rd place, best hand wins.

Bring plenty of warm gear, your own food and water etc, it was minus 6 :o there last weekend and warmed up to a barmy 8 degrees in the day ;D. You can ride as many laps as you like through out the both days, we will start around 9.30 am both days and finished at 4pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.

The NSW  Rockley Vinduro / Poker Run will be week-end of the 27th & 28th August 2011.

Entry forms will be available soon on The Manly Warringah Motor Cycle Inc. website.

Rockley will be the venue.

As previously advised the loop was already very good and it had been vastly improved  with two more hills , new  diversions in the woods section and an additional 1.4 Km grass track.

The new grass track at the start of the loop which is 1.4km in length , this loop was very well set by a crazy Welshman in a buggy . I have had the opportunity to cut one lap on the grass track and it is sensational.

Our other Vinduro have been great , but this will be the best Rockley Vinduro to date.

To all riders interested that do not have a current competition license you will require a recreational licence. We can provide the Rec. license but will need to know prior to the event as we purchase the rec licences from MA.

Pre entry is our preference but you can enter on the day. If you enter on the day and require a rec. license but have not previously advised us of your intensions you will not have rec. license reserved for you therefore you will not be able to ride.

Camping is available on site from Friday night .(No riding until Saturday morning)

Portable toilets will be available

Bring all your requirements for shelter , food and the fresh water you require for drinking.

The Camping site is available from the Friday afternoon for those that would like to set up early , but there is no riding until the event starts on Saturday morning.

“Entry forms will be available on the Manly Warringah Motor Cycle Club web site soon.”

Remember bikes must have headlights (no they don’t necessarily have to work) MX bikes with headlight fitted are very welcome.

Bikes up to 1985 only will be allowed to complete.
No Bikes manufactured after 1985 will be permitted to ride.

Prior to entries being received if you wish to reserve a rec. licence , email me.
[email protected]  or  [email protected].

I expect if we purchase a rec. license and it is  reserved for a particular individual and that individual is a no show, we would still expect payment for the license . as previously stated we are only purchasing enough licences for confirmed event entrants.

The event entry fee will be $58.00 which covers both days.
The rec. licence fee will be $25.00 which covers both days.

Prizes will be presented to the three best poker hands on Saturday

Prizes will be presented to the three best poker hands on Sunday

Email me with any questions or Contact  67 husky though the OZVMX website

Regards

Rob

Sounds great, Pete.

Bit underwhelmed by the response here, but the quality of previous events will ensure a good turnout on the day, I'm sure.

I will be taking my 2 old bikes .
One or two mates should be going too .
Likewise with a few others,  I would imagine  , so there should be  a reasonable number of bikes/riders.

Last  2 events were good ;D

Hi,
Well seems Ruffy got canceled, there was a huge gap in the Victorian Vinduro scene. So did a bit of organising and the old man, EBT-Mick and myself will be making the huge trip (10hr from Lara Vic) to Rockley. I hope the 2 days of ridding are worth all the effort to get there? So anyone else from Vic going?

Really looking forward to riding Rockley Vinduro, I have only ever heard good things about the track & people running it  :)  after this event, I will have ridden in all the Vinduro's that I want to take part in for 2011  ;)  then it's time to do the mod Rallys on the Pre 85 bike to promote Vinduro's again and hopefully get a few more interested for the 2012 events :).

Cheers Mick.

Rockley is out for me this year as I bought another 465 and not going was part of the bargaining for me to have it in my shed.. with no loopholes to look for :D ;) I should be going to Cookadinia but it's looking shakey again..

I might be able to swing getting to Rockley as a spectator with a camera though

Finally got my 1980 PE 175 going today and back together for a blast around the padock. What a great little bike.   I didn't want to get off the old girl. The only reason i did, was that i had to go to work on arvo shift. Its been about 15 years when i put it in the shed in discust, because i wouldn't start. But before then i rode it for years in the Otways when i was a teenager. I actually got my first trophy on it in the first Colac Motorcycle Clubs Hill Climb at Mt Pondant. I was the only junior to clear the hill which was the seniors hill as well.  So after this blast from the past i'm going to take it to Rockley for the 2 day Vinduro Poker Run   Now i need to get back into the shed to do swinging arm bushes, Fork seals, and a good tidy up and clean. Also need to prep my old mans 1982 WR430 Husky.

Rockley Vinduro update.

To date , we have received twenty five (25) entries , this is very encouraging with almost two weeks to go before we run the Rockley Vinduro / Poker Run event.

"Please remember  , although it's not mandatory ,we prefer riders to pre enter for the event ".  This go's along way to assisting us in arranging the facilities and logistics' for the event

If you for some reason you cannot pre - enter , but would like to enter on the day and require a Rec. license , please drop me a line on contact details previously supplied.

As previously advised we will only be purchasing a limited number of Rec. licenses from MA , "so" if you do not indicate you intention to attend the event , it is unlikely there will be a rec. license available.

Don't miss this great event , we are extremely lucky to have use of this fabulous property . Our sponsors have provided some great prizes for the best poker hands on Saturday and Sunday.
Prior to entries being received if you wish to reserve a rec. licence , email me.

I'm hoping there's an award for most mongrel dog of a vinduro bike, cause my 'flogged out unrestored farm bike' TT250H would win it!

Mind you, some renewal of some internal components has occurred......

Think i'm getting to the end of it all  ;D I'm taking a 1980 PE175 and Dads ridding his 1982 WR430 Husky-Seems to be a few husky lovers up north  :P Got a new set of Hagon shockers sorted for the PE today and the rear brake shoes relined and matched to the drum. Got to jump on the lathe and machine up some chain rollers-as the ones i ordered off DC plastics along with my head light shroud for the PE haven't turned up yet and seeing that there still sitting in the US, i doubt i'll see them before the weekend. Was going to try to clean the tank up and put a set of stickers on it but i want have the time. So then it just needs putting all back together. Got the front end in today after matching the front brake shoes to the drum and putting new fork seals in and some fresh oil. The Husky had cracked the clutch cover around one of the dowels-so got it welded but wasn't a very good job so hopefully some devcon will keep it all together for the weekend. Got that going off atm so then need to put the clutch cover back on it and give it a quick squirt and make sure its happy. Did a service on my car today and its done a timming case seal so will be replacing that and putting a new harmonic balancer on it before i set off on a 10hr trip. Then i better start packing i guess.

Report from Shoey, everything is ready to go, looks like good riding weather for the weekend, a litte frosty at night.

Well, that was fun - and there's still tomorrow to go. :)

Great turn out, at least 62 entries (I was rider #62), including several interstate riders.

Course was slightly harder than last time I was up there, but definitely not killer. Some dust at times, but nothing too bad.

The mix of bikes was less eclectic than it was at Harrow, with most bikes being Evo or pre-85 Jap bikes - lots of ITs, XRs and PEs, with a fair smattering of converted MXers and the expected fleet of Huskys from Shoey and Pete...

Two thumbs up!

It was indeed fun - I had a ball.  What a great combination of grasstrack and single track!  Throw in some creek/mud crossings, some decent steep hills, some grarly switchbacks and you got a decent vinduro course.  The track was run the reverse direction sunday, which keeps things fresh.  Great to see a lot of familiar faces (since classic dirt), all enjoying some simple dirtbike fun over two gorgeous days.  And a great testing ground for my vmx/vinduro project bike (tt250).  Not being a race, was able to sort lots of things (mainly, whether the cdi unit was playing up, or just bad jetting - swapped both the cdi then the carb off ekka's beast, found it was jetting - go leaner (once) young man, go leaner).  And what a great collection of bikes!  I said to Graeme on the way in, I really hope I see an....XL250 Motorsport - one of which gently putted by us as soon as drove into the pits.  Thanks Ribbo and the manly warringah club!!

By the way, wusses that we are, we slummed it overnight at the Rockley Pub - and despite it being packed to the rafters with drunk, dancing, swearing, fighting partygoers from a wedding party and a bucks party, we had a great night in a cosy country pub, nicely looked after by the publican's wife, complete with three course meal, and a nice cold beer with each course - choice!!!

Well I survived and so did The XT/TT500. I don't know what was harder ride the awesome track or cleaning the ute and bike when I got home. That was my first Rockley and enduro and I'd like to thank all those involve in organising and running the event. Bring on the next one.

Gotta echo those sentiments - a truly memorable weekend. Huge thank you to the organisers, you did a great job. The whole thing ran without a hiccup and as far as I know - no injuries. A great course with some fun sections and a few little challenges to make it all the more enjoyable. This was the ITs first serious ride and it went great all weekend. It slogged up the hills, forded the creeks, kept me shiny side up through the twisty bits and got up a decent turn of speed on the grasstrack.

The second day was best for me - the course suited me better for some reason and after the several laps on the Saturday I was definitely getting back into the groove.

At one stage I just sat back and took it all in.  It could have been any Sunday in 1982 - PEs, ITs, YZs, CRs - all the usual suspects from back in the day. And in the hills, the rasp of 2-strokes on the gas. It could not have got any better!

Unfortunately an unexpected health snag prevented me from going up to Rockley as I'd promised the boys.
I know how much work Shoey, Ribbo, Husky Pete and the Manly-Waringah club put into the event so it's great that you're all supporting them. This can only get bigger. ;)

My brother David and I both had a great time. Thanks to the Manly Warringah Motorcycle club.
Managed to kill both bikes though. The IT175F was jumping out of gear.

Blew out a base gasket on the IT200 on the first lap.
Didn't work out what the problem was until half way around the 2nd lap and by then it was sucking so much air and pre-igniting that I couldn't go on.
Waited a while for the sweep rider to come back with a tow rope but when he didn't show I had to use bush mechanics.
Loosened off the base nuts and fitted a couple of gum leaves to stop the leak.
It got me back and a plug check showed ok and so I continued on to complete five laps.
But it blew out the back also and so we went home Saturday night.

I went looking for you Graeme to say g'day, but someone told me you had left to go stay at the Hilton  ;D and left us punters with the camp fires and swags  :D I am pretty sure you made it into some of my video's Graeme, not sure about the cutting up dirt though  ;).

Great pics there Jock and Mick. A big thanks to all involved for putting on another great weekend. Had some issues with jetting, but managed to push on and get my laps done. Also a shout out to Ted, thanks for letting me take his beautiful KX 500 for a spin. A very nice bike to ride and a top bloke.
Can't wait for the next one.
Cheers Brooksie ;D
