What are those KDX400's like? would it make a good motocrosser if you stripped the lights from it and fitted a KX seat and tank?
-
Great motor, but the suspension was a bit short compared to the MX'ers of the era.
The perfect bike was a KDX400 motor in a 79 KX250 frame - since Kawasaki had no 400cc motorcrosser in 1979 I've been told this is actually what Peter Ploen rode in 1979.
-
I would like you just to turn up for a change Tony ;)
-
I turn up more often than not - it's the bike that is optional....... ::)
-
Actually the bike Ploen rode was a '79 KX250 frame with a '76 KX400 engine fitted and he grafted a reed valve onto the cylinder. We travelled to Amaroo Park in convoy for the '79 MR Motocross final which he rode that bike in.. it was the only KX in the field.

Take a fast one Tony cause Gary Woodgate,s keen to let his hair down.
He came 2nd outright, with Brian Spencer, at the masters after a 25 year break. :o

Cool! I didn't know that! That'd be an interesting bike to replicate... ::)

I am, as long as I'm over my pneumonia...
You know anyone who'd like to ride but hasn't got a Vinduro mount?
-
Probably.
-
Only if I survive C/Classis and Harrisville ;)
-
Who's putting it on?
What classes?
Are ADR'd MX'ers allowed?
-
OK all you would be Vinduro riders, 3 weeks after the Wiltec Industries Conondale Classic come and ride Vinduro at Rocksberg Caboolture on the 28th.
Bikes up to pre 90 and Mx bikes will be allowed on this QVMX Vinduro Practice day.
A Juniors/ ladies track will also be set up on the day so make it a family affair.
Ambo's , canteen, toilets will all be there for your comfort and convenience.
$30 ride fee for the day plus day licence if you need one.
Come and have some fun on a not so hard enduro loop.

-
Couttsies 2 day enduro is on up here in Central Queensland next weekend the 3rd and 4th Sep. Its a great weekend where you can race or just cruise around the track. There is also a class for the older bikes.

Hard decision to make Noel I'm sure, but I'm also sure it's the correct decision... :'(
You would have only ended up with the hard core old enduro riders.. :-[
You, me and maybe a few others.. (I was coming no matter what - I love mud rides. Best way ever to improve your throttle control, brake control and balance..) ;D
BUT, can you please change the title to "QLD Vinduro...POSTPONED"????
-
Yeah it sucks
Chis got stuck on the first downhill getting into the place so no hope.
Yeah, should be postponed, but I've had a cold for a week and the way I feel today everythings cancelled.
We do need to start getting serious about running some vinduros.
