Hey Mick, we should be putting out a call for any local guy's out there with a potent pre 75 bike to come out to try and stop the Greasy6 juggernaut from taking out the 25 lapper for the 3rd year in a row ;D
And can I book pole position for the pre 85 25 lapper, I have to push start my beast now?

Some-one might have to sneak up behind him in the pits and belt him over the scone with an old Velo muffler.

Hi Micks wot size shoe does Oliey wear ?? Jokes aside Oliey is a great young polite rider(shame he lost a chain last year or it would of been his). Love his style on  John's Bully. Still smiling at the fact that my CR250 beat the Bully at the Aussie Titles with Toby Tyson on it.But will be at Neapean with a 4 smoker in the 25 lapper.

Some old gentleman the other day asked me if I new where he could get an old Velo muffler. I think he rides an XL350.  cheers pancho. [I said I heard that the late great Edgar Penzig had a few stashed away somewhere for use when the need arised.]

Hi Mick
There should be a couple of us Pre '90 blokes there. I've had a couple of inquiries but I don't think we will need our own class  :( :( :(

I may still be on an Evo bike unless I pull my finger out and get my '89 finished in time. After riding last year I'm looking forward to having another crack this year.

Cheers

penrith charity weekend 30/31st july
the charity this year is for melanoma research. some of our members have this and are going thru treatment.
club meet last night, info to report back on is that the saturday 25 lappers will be pre 75 (grasy cup) and pre 90 (78 evolution pre 85/90).at first the club was only going to run up to pre 85 but it was put to the members that we include pre90 into the 25 lapper to test the waters.
saturday will run something like last year. sign on,scurtineering 11.00/12.00 ish practice 1.00 ish pre 75 25 lapper 2.30 ish pre 90 25 lapper 3.30 ish
saturday night you can camp at the track, toilets/hot showers etc have a couple of refreshments around the fires listern to how grasy lost the 25 lapper to young olly.(mind games grasy)
sunday sign on,scrutineering (if not done on saturday) 8.00/9.00 ish on the track at 10.00 for pratices then into racing run up to or around 4.00 then a presentation.
pre entry is the way to go as it gets you a place in the saturday 25 lappers and would help to see what classes we need to put together, there maybe a programme printed.if you are not on the club post out list you can phone the good people at kelens kawasaki  47214439 for an entry form.

hope this helps

ps shaun can you put a post on the retro site for us please.

come on fellas think postive they have just run the king of nepean under the same weather conditions.jim it has been off and on here at penrith we would had a total off 12/15mm up to yesturday. it stops tuesday there will be heaps of time for the track to dry out. ( track not the pits.) if it`s overcast and there`s a wind it will dry the track out.all we have to hope is nepean motorsports have done the track work after the king of nepean and have not left it to the last minute.will find out more about track and get back.

been told that the track has been run over but nepean would like to run the grader over it to get it prefect and have not been able too.

keep those entries coming in.

jim don`t worry about walking around the pits you will have no time with all your bikes, your classes then riding up a class you will be on the track more than the pits :)

no matter how you run the format there is always someone that will have back to back races.anywho we can work arounded that problem
Title: Re: Penrith Charity Weekend
Post by: Curly3 on July 23, 2011, 11:34:01 am
Actually Mick he was at the Betty Ford Clinic, but we'll keep that to ourselves.
I don't think Jim is turning up for the 25 lapper, sook, if we all put some pressure on him he may wilt.

meeting last night about the meet, format, programme etc.
keep the entries coming in.
sponsors on board. big thankyou to all.  teknik suspension is one to note they have help the club with an issue.
try to stop the back to back races as much as we can but it will put some out.just to put more pressure on you,we will be running transponders.this is to make sure we get the 25 lappers right as the officials cannot count to 25.this means we can keep an eye on the people that take short cuts to win or turn a blind to the one who does.
format is as entred on page 2.

sorry forgot again must be that methonal jim with organge juice,,, greeaaatt!!!
flaggies get a showbag of goodies (drinks niddly etc) be right there where the action is (photos) and at great expence to the club free lunch plus the gratitude of the riders for beening there so we can ride.

slides that`s 5mm a main jet x 3 bikes = 15mm but 1 litre lap at 3 bikes at 3.5 laps - bike class and ride up a class = ?                  more orange juice.

Grasy got hammered ;Din the pre75 25 lapper, finishing third behind Olly in 2nd and Clinton Mcdonald in 1st.
The pre90 25er was won by Lee Hunter, Anthony Gras 2nd and Roy Gay 3rd.
I survived the weekend in one peice but unfortunately there were a couple of injuries.
Jim Garvey - ribs and Oliver Smith - collarbone, there were a couple of other minor injuries but I don't know who they are but a speedy recovery to all.
I'm sick of the sight of big bore 2 strokes, I was getting great starts and getting swamped just before turn one.
And they stink.

Sorry to hear that Jim and Ollie broke bones. Take it easy fellers and do what the medicos tell you, specially you Jim, busted ribs aren't much fun and can turn nasty if you don't do as you are told.
Hopefully a speedy recovery for both.
 Cheers pancho.

I should have mentioned that the track is the best I've ever seen it, it's a credit to BWP's Tony Garrard, he's put a shitload of work into it and it's starting to show.
Also thanks to all the officials and workers who make these great events possible for us to enjoy.

I just want to give a HUGE thank you to the Penrith club for giving us pre '90 fella's a run at this meeting. Unfortunately we were missing a few guy's due to the rescheduling of the Picton Amcross round. However those of us there had a sensational time.

The track was simply awesome! Tony Garrad's efforts in preparing the track has it in the best shape I have ever seen it in.

The use of transponders, despite the small hiccups early, was great. I hope the club perseveres with them in future as getting printouts of lap times cool  ;) Just got to remember to change the transponder over to your second bike each race hey Damo  ;D ;D ;D

Cheers

Had a great day a little slow in the morning with some front end issues but after lunch, I found some speed on the 89 CR500 and even managed to hold out the Vice Pres for 3 laps  ;D ;D ;D

Looking forward to doing some more in the future.

hope we are all home safe and sound? nice to hear the postive feed back.
didn`t know jim was beaten up, so that`s why he was packing up early.think jims missus is a nurse he will get special attention.ollie is ok facture to collarbone not broken.trying to find out how the bloke in the pre 75  25 lapper is.he was sore on sunday.
excellent presentation from the pre 90 crew thank`s shaun. tony`s track work is paying off but we have to keep on top of the watering. under the pump with the transponders it is the first time the club has used them we should of learnt about the problems by now as st george use them.what i should of done is sent everyone back out for a second pratice, but to late now.flagies is another issue the club needs to work thru, again under the pump to get the show on the road but without the flagies there is no show.so thank`s to all the flagies.
poncho good turn out for the sliders think i counted 8. kingie and lenny had a go but where`s wally.

Matcho Mick, the only reason you were one of the last men standing is because you only got there at about 11pm, we already had been going for at least 6 hours and I only pulled the pin when the lovely Mrs Gras politely told us to PO, mind you I'm glad she did, took me 1/2 an hour to subdue the cramps enough to crawl out of my tent in the morning, I cramped up again big time on the trip home.
And what's this Tranny bit, you worry me sometimes.
Jimbo, harden the F up, only 2 meetings in 1 year, you have to ride at the BWP run club day, your big bro's coming up with the Gall Special for me to have a ride on, we might need some spares ;D, it is a few months away.
See, if you'd have camped at the track you wouldn't have been so toey on the track ;)

Aha, that's more like it Dave, there I was thinking you'd failed to take the bait.
No excuses from me, Anthony goes bloody good and I'm sure we'll be seeing him around for a long time.
Don't forget I'm an ex Speedway rider, we struggle to concentrate after 4 laps, I did win the unofficial 6 lapper for longvterm ADHD sufferers.
No replacement for youthfull exuberance.

Hey do you wear body armour Jim?
When I busted a rib at Nepean a couple of years ago I had only my leathers and back brace, [of course], but after I recovered I bought a Dianese top which I would be nervous without now. Pity it covers my old Merrylands colours. Any how here's for a speedy recovery.
By the way, its amazing what the threat of the old Velo muffler can achieve!
Good to see every one had a good time. See you all at the next one.
All we need now is the 2012 classics to be held at Nepean
 Cheers pancho.

It don't get much more serious than that Dave.
6 weeks is a pretty good recovery time, all the best to Luke, he seems like a good egg.

Pancho, unfortunately untill the two clubs that run dirt track in Sydney allow "sliders" (I hate that description) to run with everyone else.
Then they will sit in the sheds.
Anyone who knows anything about the history of short circuit know that this style of chassis can run safely and competitively with MX framed bikes.
I happen to know this because I competed in the 70's and 80's on both MX and Hagon framed bikes.
I have listened to all the crap that is going around about a conflict of styles etc. AND IT IS CRAP.

that would be unfair to 500cc if they ran ma gcrs they would only get 1 ride per round.if they keep the same format ie 125 250 500 unlim.then everybody gets 2 rides per round and also would free up 2 races per round.day would be a little quicker.
just my 2 cents worth and i do have a longtrack slider being restored to ride

Also raced mx (440 maico)and a slider (Godden-weslake) back in the day and can't see any reason to separate today. Restoring the Godden presently. I feel they should race side  by side in the unlimited. pros; better racing, greater progam effeciency and higher interest/discussion level. However I reckon there should be one race feature event for the sliders when there aresufficient numbers just to be a spectacle. When I hear of the CCM only races in the UK, I drool just want to be at the first corner. cons; can't think of any!

i agree fully only one exception to the rule 'boof' clarke on his speedway bike with the disc brake on the back , never knew when that combo was going to come from behind and skittle you on the first turn, a very entertaining rider rip boof.

so let the sliders off on the front grid with a 5 second gap what a spectical

expect a big rollup next year you guys have nailed it and from what i've been hearing there a lot more rider 's coming outa the closet , just need to buy bigger gear and ride up a few more cc's

love your stuff gb
