Isn't there a rule about not using road bike bits?

Those Monty twin leaders seem to be worth silly amounts of money.

Of the widely available dirt bike stuff, I'd suggest that the DT1/DT250 non conical brake is hard to beat for braking ability. The YZ/MX hub is a fair bit lighter, and the brake works well, but not as well as a DT brake.

The Honda brake is heavy and powerful although the brake cam brings on the brakes suddenly. The Yammy 7 inch would give the same power with more feel. This can be varied with lining choice.

On DT the weight should be a issue although less weight is always a good thing for suspension performance (responsiveness).

The cable mount on the brake plate vs the slot for the fork lug, is the clue. The non-leading axle ("pre-75") brakes run the cable parallel to the slot, while the later ones are at an angle.

What do you want brakes for Jim ;D
Aren't they there just to get past scrutuneering?

Hey Jim no front brake only a rear. Still a little bit on the scary side trying to slow down!Puts the wind up the modern bikes with there front discs. All the guys at the club give me a fairly wide berth into corners at club days!! (http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/flattracker/Broadford2011b.jpg)

The tyres are great. They are speedway rears as both wheels are 19". I'm going to try to get to the next practice day, 17/7 but the one after that is in September on the 11th. I haven't been hiding the bike, it has new paint and a few other things after the first build, it has been around but only in undercoat,
