Very Nice Shane.
I like the white frame on this model, i have a white frame on my CR250 but it does not suit my bike!
-
Yeah Hoony did not know if I would like it or not until I did it but does look different. wanted to do the whole white thing (plastics) but could not track them down. Shot of the other side with my own hand built stainless muffler

Hi Young Pup, good lookin 83 mate I have one of these as well (can see on 2nd page on 450,480,500 roll call), the pipe on the 500 is a GMC pipe and the end silencer has been chromed (chromed aluminium) the pipe is a bit of a work of art from Geoff (was on bike when I purchased it) the coating on the pipe is just the metal Geoff made it out of (like a zinc sheet) and I spray it after each ride with Lanotec so it stops it from rusting.

Another shot of the 500 Pup and come on mate you can make CD5 we need all the Honda's we can get!!!
-
sweet chromed wheels too, I want one the bonus is the kicker is on the right side as I tend to stall a bit.
come on boyz show us what you got, Magoo where's your new toy?
-
Yer Pup the right kicker is a big advantage as I am only 5 foot 3 tall and need a rock at the best of time (if I stall or fall off) the wheels are chromed and the bike is a good thing and a pleasure to ride specially at Conondale with the long straights to get it going!! Magoo was going to have a ride on it at Conondale last year but the stiching on his skirt was falling down and he couldn't ride ;D ;D

-
very nice, does a 83 250rd seat fit on a 480rd. I tried a 125 seat but its way to different.
I want a spare so that I can put my good seat away before the original seatcover gets ripped.
Anyone out there got one they dont want
-
I reckon I've got a spare seat here somewhere. How do I post photos here?
-
I'm seeing RED >:(
:) :D ;D
-
Here's the next installment in the collection. It's a 1978 CR250 with a Mugen ME30 kit. After I ride it and sort it I'll strip it down for a bit of a tidy up.

-
If there was one bike in this world it's the bottom one there Mark. The only Mugen 390 in existence in the world. Here's another cool pic of a Mugen 460 that is about the best example you'll ever see. I don't know who owns it or where it's from, but it's a good 'un.
-
This is what I like to see Red Red and more RED!!! I am going to have to get a tissue now to dry my eyes :'(
-
That 460 is that Henk guy from holland. It was a 'bike of the month' on the elsinore site. He seems to have a shit load of trick gear, such as nos fox shocks and Mugen kits galore!

Here's a pic of my CR500RE ex HRC 8) was ridden by the legend himself "The Flying Freckle" ;D
He used this bike for the last couple of rounds in 1983 Mr MX and then the first 3 rounds
in 1984 Mr MX. He then rode the CR500RF water cooled bike to secure the title and became the
1984 MR MX Champion. 8)
This year was also the last year of the "Big Bangers" as the rules changed to 250cc for the 1985
Mr MX series. Which Jeffro kicked arse again and defended his title!! :)
Picture is at the Conondale MR Motocross Rd 2007, at which we had a Legends demo race and VMX
display. Glen Bell rode the bike! and was impressed ;D

-
I know it is'nt a HONDA but it's still pretty cool and I bet most of us can remember this thing getting around the traps. 1 with G.B. and the others with Deak's. & "The Sarge" 8) gotta love that "Dayglo"
was the best times in MX the 80's

nice 500RE....were there any differences between the flying freckles race bike and the standard production bike.....

Things were kept secret back then, I remember seeing the bike at Broadford in 1984 I had just raced the B&C grade support race and was on my way to my car. The team transporter ( a bread van) was parked just near the entry to the pitts and start appron. The pitts were off limits to vehicles and only bikes, riders, mechanics and gear were allowed into the pitt propper!!
the bike had just been washed after practice and the mechanics had it stripped down to the main frame and engine only. The shock and front end were in the van being re-valved!! A big effort in those days shows the committment that HRC had back then! the van had wheels, shocks fork assemblies on the walls. I guess history shows that it paid-off.
The bike had a few mods over production bikes such as
Factory spec porting (using production castings, still on bike! )
Mugen gears with larger dogs! ( not in bike now but I still have them!),
off-set tripple trees (0.5deg, still fitted!)
factory hand made HRC pipe and muffler (I wish I knew where these have gone)
MUGEN kitted cartridge forks (as fitted to it now!) or the factory HRC "works" forks
HRC works shock or HRCV kitted std shock (still on bike)
other changes were at the riders request and local modifications.
Horse power was aprox 61 for the production bike
and the HRC ones were 67 or more!! :o
At CD4 last year Magoo bailed up Rosko (Leiskies mechanic at the time) and said come and have a gander at this it's suppossed to be "Jeffro's"
He walked up to it, squatted down on the LHS, projected his boney finger in at the reed block on the barrel, looked back at Magoo and simply went "YEP" grinned and went on his way!! ;D
(the barrel has the markings JL.98EX HRCV)
SO THERE YA GO 8)

-
AAaagh lookin around your shed Snowy i see where my own problems ly . I need a bigger shed ,Very nice anyway this is from a monoshock man and maybe you can set me straight but are those rear shocks on the arse about ?. I thought the reservoir faced up ??.
-
Don`t back chat me fella, I know Honda`s! Had to double check in a 1980 spec sheet ;)
-
I love that CR snowy an extremely nice resto, I was talking to Les at Mainly Maico about getting me some gold rims and now that I have seen that photo I think it made my mind up.
As for the bigger shed the more space you have the more you find to put in, not such a bad thing if you can afford it.
Glen.
-
Yes Glen, it`s the shed of my dreams, just got to save for some concrete but there`s so many vintage dirt bikes that need Loving!
-
Snowy a gas heater!!!!! ::) Tips for your shed ,Fit a chain block and tackle you will use it heaps, shelving shelving shelving and some racks on top of that too. Two work benches, one at a comfortable standing work height and the other at a height to suit a barstool or tall high back office chair, surprise you will use the latter more often, A proper tool board above your main work bench and make sure you and other shed users put the bloody tools back straight after use!!! >:(your Fridge.... Cheers Tim
-
Snowy - love the RA - beautiful job.
regards
Rossco
-
Thanks fellas, the RA`s a bit of work in progress , back to original, forks rims etc, should look like she came of the show room floor for CD5. Tim, I have got one thing in my shed that might interest you,? a little Honda SL125 and a box a bits, From Noel, can bring to to CD5.

Shame on you 090 for that Yamaha, confess you sins on Sundee. :D
Nice collection mate. ;)
-
brad arnt you takeing the triplet
-
Thanks Hoony.
Yeah Paul, just have to lace the rear wheel up (tonight) and wait for the muffler mount to be made. Then some minor bits and pieces after that. And yes i will be taking the triplets. Here is the transporter. did a mock up to see how many i could get on and how i can keep them in place. 8 easily and maybe 9 in a pinch.Thats cool if its only 8 as i also have a 3 bike trailer to take the rest. Should be a good test for the Tassie run.

If it wasn't for the Hondas I'd think you were doing a run to the tip. You've got it bbbbbaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddd Sir Bradalot
-
seems like that "Sir Bradalot" name is sticking hey Magoo. :D
-
Hey Brad waht are you running next weekend at Coles Creek??
-
The '83 480, Maico 490 and i thought i'd give the '74 cz400 a burl.
Who'd a thunk eh Magoose.
A little over 2 years ago i was riding my modern around all blinged up and thought that was the shit. Then some old mongrel invited me 'round his place to look at all his pieces 'o ssssensational old beasts.
Next he offers to sell me a basket case on the understanding that i race it. A what? Maygo? Are you sure its a good thing? Now look at me. If it was cancer i'd be riddled with it!
Ahhh Hoony, we will have to catch up so i can thank you personally :D.
Now i know what to put on the rear window of the wagon! ;D
