Title: First RM125
Post by: David Lahey on February 16, 2008, 08:50:56 pm
This photo was taken at Echo Valley, Toowoomba in 1975 and that day was the first time I had seen an RM125. There was only one of them there and judging by how it looked I would say it had not been ridden before that day. No idea who the rider is.
The same day it was good to watch one of the Floods flying on a Pursang.

Cool photo.. the front brake cable looks like it's about to get caught on the tyre.

and that very issue of the front brake cable was addressed in the dealer service bulletin in '75.

The remedy, tape the cable securely to the fork leg just below the dust cover.

Hi-tech stuff for such a ground breaking model eh :D

The big motocross race at Toowoomba in the old days was the Mountain Man motocross. All the guns used to turn up including Gall, Gunter, Flood, Worrell, Grandquist, Pace and anyone else of note. The King of the Mountain is a dirt track event.

I've got a few more (but non-Suzuki) photos of that day at Echo Valley. Yes it was a Mountain Man event. I'll do some scanning soon and post them. Someone might be able to say who the Husqvarna rider is in the photos. I don't think that Pelle hadn't arrived on the scene at that stage. One photo has a forlorn looking rider whose bike stopped and was left behind on the start line (Maico or CZ I think).

I'd better not repeat what I wrote on the back of the photo after printing it back in 1975, but it was something like what Wombat just said.

Steve don't you reckon that guy looks a bit too much on the thin side to be Geoff Udy?
