Title: CD8: Back home again
Post by: Doggy Digger on June 13, 2011, 07:44:47 pm: FANTASTIC. BRILLIANT. Like - WOW.
Loved it - loved it -loved it!
Thursday night at Maleny pub turned into an hilarious adventure, and they struggled to get us out at Closing.
Friday's weather ab-fab all day long - just perfect ... for the Meet'n'Greet
I reckon the Pre-78 track was better this year.
Too Much Coffee Man showed up again, and kept us warm and topped-up.
I thought Darryl WILLOUGHBY's speech was wonderful at lunchtime Saturday Legends.
James DEAKIN and Dean BURT turned Legend Laps into a full-throttle hammerfest - it was EXCITING!!!
Cruising around the different marquees and private tents on the drizzling Saturday night was a good-fun adventure.
A yummy Factory Works SR443 (1980, built for Trevor WILLIAMS by same GP dept that made LACKEY's bikes - at a cost of 12,000 in 1980 dollars) on display.
The haybales appeared again, to make the bar nice 'n' cosy.
Husky Pete tanked up, and giving out man-hugs all around.
Alison worked the crowd and Valley to the max - having a great time
Loved the river running through the guts of Club Kevlar's tent, Saturday night
Coupla extra Vics made it up - Sean and Ken BAKER, Les BARFOOT
I managed to meet many, many more people this year, plus working out heaps of names to faces - great fun
So much stuff going on, whenever - or wherever - you turned ... why, there was enough to make a book
(Ha-ha. Not doin' that again)

Re-amerged passed inflicution....Thinking TMBill will have plenty of bikes too clean while he's waiting for the Chile Ash to clear :( :-X

Steve Baker is still resting up in hospital with a bit of internal bleeding...but all ok..

met some great people around the bar sat nite in the rain ( alisons little duck included ) ;D
the track was awsome late sat arvo when the rain started and there were only a few brave ones out
the big 5 hungey was absolutely singing..
come sunday morning decided to put the big girl away and test ride some of those suzis luv that poor
little 125, brought back lots a memories of the 95 model i had brand new..
still have a soft spot for hole shot buddys rm370, did it sell ...
girlfriend was so impressed with all the goin ons she now wants to race her bike.. :o
anyway it was the best weekend away we had in ages
cant wait to do it all over again next year..

Track was wet and a quiet a few didnt ride. Great event though. Did I hear talk that CD is going to be at a different venue in 2012?? I hope not.

I haven't seen so many blokes laughing so much for years.
We all had a fab time!

2. I'll put a few more pix up later on. And I'll name names.

3. Cold? I reckon it was about 5 degrees warmer than last year. Rain started softly just after lunch. Because the ground was
pretty waterlogged (but dry) already, it quickly turned to mud in the pits. Didn't stop the Saturday night socialising at all!

4. What about someone else - anyone got pix to post?

At Yass tonight (great steak at the motel) Will drop off a frame tomorrow for a forum member to GMC and a YZ80/XR to another forum member in Melbourne tomorrow. Have picked up a couple of XL250's (bare bones) from a forum member at Lismore NSW area and some other XL250 parts from another forum member at Central Coast NSW. Also picked up an ex Gary O'brien VR360 from Sydney which I bought a few months ago.
Had a great time at CD8. Shame it ended early for us. Met a lot of great forum members and caught up with some fantastic friends also. (Coowee Alison) Thanks to Doggy Digger for making sure we got to bed ok 2 nights running.
Can't wait for the next one.

Yeah Hoony, I think so but #8 could back me up here. Both beautifully done though and are a credit to both Armstrongs, I saw them both last year but they seem to have made them even better looking for this year.

Funny you should ask ,,I was thinking of writting a big post/letter/email to tell him to get back here cause the pre75 fraturnity is lagging somewhat !!
He was there having a grand old time with Suzuki Aust supplying him a 4wheeler to cruise Green Park..and with his Maico whizz margireeta machine !!

Yeah it was great to see Mark able to get around on the quad and have a look at stuff and catch up with people that he normally would not have been able to get around to.
Good on Suzuki Australia for the gesture.
I for one (of many) would like to see Mark back on the forum as it seems very empty without his input and influence.
So Firko what about giving us the pleasure of your company again ;D

Brad, I laughed my guts out when i read your comment, I think I'll have to have a word to Ed, people are starting to talk.

That mugshot was when I was getting my knee patched up by the ambo, i hit a mud pie on the enduro loop and the bike stopped dead in it's tracks with me going over the bars. Hit my knee on the way over on the top clamp bolt on the left top triple clamp. Nothing serious, didn't stop me from continuing to ride.
