With a favourable exchange rate, no doubt quite a few of us are looking to import from the US, but this chap is saying $1,400 in freight plus 10% GST on the Australian dollar value of the machine. Seems a bit steep to me. Any better quotes?
-
From West Coast of US to Brisbane $1000 is about the money. This bike is from North Carolina on East Coast so $400 to get across the US is about right also. If you want cheaper shipping from East Coast I doubt you will find much better. Seems reasonable to me - but agree its not cheap so choose the bike wisely :D. This one seems good. Cheers ;)

What about the GST, is it right that we have to cough that up as well and is it on the Australian dollar value of the bike? Thanks.
-
You will be asked to pay the following: 10% GST on cost of bike + shipping; Customs charges say $250; Quarantine inspection/cleaning (ripoff) charges say $150; Can easily add $600 or more to the bike + freight cost. Go in with eyes wide open and then no surprises. Cheers

If you are interested in buying from the the US -- I suggest you call Robin from Shoreline Motorcycles in Brissy -- did the right thing by me -- collected from mid USA and all the way to Melb' arrived on time and on price -- give him a call.
And there is no connection -- I'm just a satisfied customer.

Thanks, sounds like buyer beware.

Very nice. One of the best looking MX'ers of all time for my money - especially in black and gold, classy.
I wouldn't expect much change from $1000 to get it landed here in Oz.
At the current price it would be well worth it, but it is "reserve not meet' at the mo - and I think it's price would at least over $2000. But at $3000 landed it would be a good buy 8).

on their website they want $2950.00 http://www.eastcoastvintagemx.com/bikes_for_sale

Be careful very very careful
A yz 465 was purchased from East Coast Vintage and sent to South Africa - original photos looked good
Actual bike build quality very poor - blown rear shock, real badly put together. bike was built to be sold on web as opposed to actual viewing.
And to top it all the buyer's emails re problems go unaswered.
Buying bikes over the internet - be careful very careful - remember photos lie more than politicians
