if we take into count the wind speed, barametric pressures off the simpson desert, weather persons lack of knowledge and hourly rate with the account of the elino effect this rain front could actually be pushed or slowed either side of Sat & Sunday..........
just sayin  ;D  ;D   ;D

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see but I was in Hervey Bay last weekend and the forecast was for showers and storms and it was fine the whole time, so you never know. Of course, now I've said that it'll piss down the whole time...

Forecast is looking slightly better than it was last night for CD8. They're now saying possible showers for Saturday rather than rain as stated yesterday. This means we should get (fingers crossed) a half decent day Saturday with some rain periods forecast for Sunday. Again fingers crossed Sunday's forecast doesn't develop as the people at BOM think or at least delayed a day.

There was a little rain in Maleny over night and a small shower a few minutes ago. The sky looks a bit dark but I think it will only help the track. Will be a good weekend. ;D

Yes it's very cold here is Downtown Nambout today .. walked outside a few moments ago to grab a coffee and just about froze (well froze for us thin blooded Qld'ers).

Must be a southerly breeze .... blowing in the cold along with the visiting horde of southerners that to CD8  :D

Must remember to pack the thermals  ;D

Well tracks were fantastic until just after lunch and the rain started. Bloody slippery now.

Post by: pmc57 on June 11, 2011, 07:27:13 pm
Also the Vinduro loops were great too.. except for the first mudhole that is... bike stopped dead, I kept going. I've never had to go back to a bike when I've fallen off, first time for everything I guess.

After that little hickup, the rest of the morning was exxxccceeellent. The "hard" vinduro loop were great fun, jumps going up nice steep hills and jumps going down as well. Top marks to the guys who set out the vinduro loops, they were first class.

As mentioned in the previous thread, the light drizzly rain started at about 2pm, that's when we decided to call it a weekend. That was the plan also.

When I left this afternoon, it was the type of rain where you can walk 100 meters and not get wet, but it's likely to keep up over night and tomorrow. If you're going just to look take a brolly and you'll be fine but the spectical of seeing good riding is dampened (excuse the pun) buy the slippery conditions.
Title: Re: CD8 weather..
Post by: Simo63 on June 12, 2011, 01:42:42 am
So it's 1.30am and it stopped raining hours ago,  Hopefully will be clear tomorrow and we might get a ride in but if it rains again, I'm not so sure.  Quite a bit of water sitting around and the tracks are very slippery.

On the up side though, a fantastic time being had by all I suspect. As a CD virgin I think that there are great bikes, great people and a really great event IMHO.

Anyhows I've had too many beers (is there such a thing??) and need to catch some beauty sleep for tomorrow.   ;)

Cheers
Simo

any track repoerts for this morning, wondering if its worth heading out today

Track report: No rain but track is really wet and really slippery.  They've made some minor changes to the pre 78 track, open MX track and I think the vinduro loop also has been changed a bit but as I sit here typing, bikes are blasting around the track.

Ahhh the smell of 2-stroke in the morning .... how's the serenity  ;D

Cheers

Had a great time even though not much time riding, met a lot of great people and had a lot of compliments on my Maico and even a few offers to purchase. I had to leave Sunday morning due to some light fingered louie who stole my race pants that were hanging up drying outside of our camper van. Please send me your contact details so I can send you the matching top you left behind, it would be a shame to break up a set.

Well, the trek home has started. Yes, Macca, Mark C & Mr Maico all waiting with anticipation at Brisbane Airport early morning, only to be told, sorry lads and with flights fully booked over the next 2 days in light of the back log, an executive decision was made to hire a car and head home. Last I heard, the 3 muskateers were feeding it up at Macca's in Dubbo  ;D ;D
