HEy question, i went to fit 2 x11 yesterday and blew out 3 inner tubes all new ones, i cant seem to get them to seat onthe bead ?? am i missing something here ?
i sprayed with lub and pumped up and its still not all the way out in one quadrant. Noticed they are tubless tyres is that the issue or do i need to use a bigger inner tube to push em out. got me stuff whats going on there, even pulled out the locks as it seemed to be in that area ???

1/silicone spray works great.2/blow up to 60lb and leave in the sun.3/use packing strap around tyre to hold centre of tyre in.4/fit tube inside tyre ,not fitted to rim and leave out in the sun, sometimes when thhe tyres have been strapped together they hold that shape.5/keep doing what you are doing and keep your local shop happy selling you new tubes ;D

FFS it sdoing my head............... i have it in the back of the car hoping it will pop out..........
frustraitng both are doing it............. not sure if i want to risk ridding on it but i need em both for the weekend.............
-
isn't that why "we" go for tube type earlier mitchies ;),(chime in Col Moody?), :P
-
i got one one on. Thank fork..
one to go !
thanks for telling before Mick, i only just noticed myself when i was pissing about with them, went on fine on the modern YZ so who knows, maybe there narrow rims on the old schoolers ?
wont make that mistake again.

After Too Fast Tim (I think) mentioned on this site that the Mitas were hard to fit I have made a point of asking most that I have sold them to (mix of modern and Classic) if they had any probs with fitting and to date no dramas. Nobody makes a bigger job (well maybe Freaky) of changing a tyre than me and even I muddled through OK.
Always plenty of 4.00X18 in stock.

NAh MItas speedies go on like butter.
This First time i have struggled to push a bead with 60psi in it, maybe cheap inner tubes. thats why they blew out. ( went through 3 before i reached for the Dulop HD.
I ended up getting it on by runing a rachet strap on the tyre/rim near the valve so the air when around the tube and pushed out the other side ( where it was not rolling up) and that seemed to work a treat. it hink the issue was alos the rim lock was over the other side adn as it bit down it was stopping it moving down. as the sidewalls are really sticky as well
all good

Re the tyres, I have always ran the Mitchy but since they have gone tubless they are a dead set hard time to run as they walk off the bead of the rim sending the tyre egg shaped & tearing tube nipples off even with 8 rim staples in place. My son riding moderns 5 meetings out of one tyre (Mitas)135 laps & myself on the Classic (Mitas) will not be going back . Sorry but Mitchy have lost me.

Col will love you for that endorsement Dave.
Are you after a better discount? ;D

Which model mitas grasy ?
-
ET 01 400*18 with heavy duty tubes. None of those Chinesae rubbish tubes. Long drive to Brisbane to save $10.00 on an inner tube to wreck ya ride. Regards Grasy
Hey Col reckon ya owe me a drink for the thumbs up 2

Col doesn't drink any more, it may be a milkshake.

I'm selling these.
-
Grasy when you've got a Title Trophy in the boot of the Statesman I'll gladly buy Kellie several drinks. You on the other hand can get stuffed.
-
I got them michis both on today and ill run them a little higher and see if they stay on.
If anyone wants to do the nationals and is worried about cost etc, i had sent 2 of 18 inch X11trials tyres up there for a bike we were putting together but thats not going to plan so there will be at least one spare up there if anyone whats to use it or buy it for $60, there is no excuse for not coming out and giving the round track a crank on your Motocrosser now you have access to a cheap rear tyre. ( half new price easy
-
Good on ya Col, lets hope you two don't go bashin into each other in Brissie. That bloke with the wooden balls on the rear wheel must have the only tyre(?) that Grasy hasn't tried. See you there. PS My ride in the AMA Vintage Dirt Track Rounds will be shod with a Mitas on the rear (the bloke at the Texas bike shop recons the Aussie is a fruitloop/we will see)

be INTERESTED TO SEE HOW THAT GOES PETE. they swear by the Dt2 round ones. so you might have a trick up your sleeve yet. or a total disarster on your hands. maybe pack the Maxxis in the van just incase.
-
Instead of cutting a new edge, Grasy could polish his balls in the pits.
-
Thats is funny, I like it.
-
I knew you'd like it Pete, catch ya in Bris.
-
They will be shiney bright balls ;D
