Thanks for all the kind words on the IT/YZ conversion, but I have run into a small problem, when I tried the yz490 barrel I had to increase the slide cutaway to 3.5mm to match a so called "expert's" tuning specs for the 490 which actually were so wrong it was funny, but thats another story, I now need the 2mm cutaway slide from the IT465, as it won't run properly at low revs with the 3.5 cutaway, can anyone help, either with slide or carb etc?? I can deposit money into an account etc. The next sign on day for BMCC is next weekend and I'm fretting that I may not have it ready for that, so anyone who can help would be appreicated. ::) Thanks guys

Tonyb....i run a 3.5 cutaway, and mine pull like 15yo....what needle jet!!!!!!!,pilot, main you running ,,what reeds you got......make sure you run that R-O needle jet!!!!!
i run
40 pilot
3.5 slide
R-0 needle jet(important)
440 main
needle middle clip
40-1 motul 800 ester
stock reeds
if your bike doesnt run properly with this, you will need to look else where.,as i run both of mine with these specs and its the best combo you can do.

Wes, I also had Brets specs. I have retro rocket pipe, and v force reeds, I ended up (before gearbox trouble) going to 390 main, needle as lean as possible and 35 pilot and the thing was still a blubbering mess, way too rich, but I also did not like the lack of bottom end power?? I thought the 490 would pull nice and hard from the bottom but it wants tro give a big sharp hit...

have you checked float levels [static and running] are you running the yz cdi box and the 2.0 slide will fatten from quarter to 3 quarter throttle do you think you need that?

Hi TT5 Matt, i'm not sure what you mean by running float levels, I have only ever known stationary levels?? The cdi units are all the same yz465 it465 yz 490 etc, ( same part numbers) , I need the 2mm slide for the it465 barrel, definately not the 490 barrel.
The call to anyone with a 2mm slide available is still there.. ::)

hi Tony
on carbs with a drain screw a clear hose could be attached and held against the side of the carb with the drain screw open and motor running and a float level reading could be read off and compered to the factory specs, yamaha made such a special tool complete with graduated tube and do this test with the bike standing upright.
