Would the 300 be suitable for a bit of road riding as well eg riding to work?

Yes and no, but mainly no  ;) :D.

Unless you have an Iron Butt that is :-[. The seat is as hard as, and narrow. You won't notice it out on the trails moving around, standing and sitting etc, but on the street it will feel like someone trying to boot a wedge up ya arse after 5 minutes :o.

And the knobbies ain't meant for the road when it comes to either wear or grip :P. Or vicki verka.

Not the best on the road, I wouldn't ride it to work unles you had plenty of single trails to whip through  ;D.  A yamaha dealer once told me he wouldn't ride a wr450 to work either. But anyways, best suited off road.

The 300exc is my favourite trail bike. on the road its on and off the power band, if you were alloud to ride flat out then it would be ok. Still hard on the ass after 10 minutes.
Cheers Brett

Miserable on the road but best bike in the world off it ..... on transport sections I used to have rev mine out and then pull in  the clutch and coast, otherwise it would stutter and lurch along.

Buy DRZ400 if you want to also ride to work.

Shit, It just took me 3 months to sell a 2008 KTM 250sx (2t) and struggled to $4250 for it. I think you might have to drop your price Steve.
