I reckon it's a 1975 M1,(redback). It's normal for Honda engine & frame numbers to differ.
Cheers,

its a 1973 with billet crank which came out only in the first batch.i have a 1976 as well and it is nothing like it for a start the exhaust is on the rhs

Honda never had matching engine and frame numbers, that's a Yamaha thing. '75 CR250M1 frame and engine numbers started with 2 as the prefix. Some of the early CR250's did come with a billet crankshaft.

Jim.
I think numbers going CR250M 100+++ are from 1973 numbers going CR250M 101+++ are the the 1974. Im not 100% on that but I am sure theirs some Honda men on forum that woiuld know for sure.
