Dave's Godden.
-
I would REALLY like to have one of those thankyou very much! Great pic Slides.
Wonder which bike would be the quickest on a longtrack, an American Flatracker or a Godden Longtracker? regards Mark.
-
depends on size of track, what about a V twin 1000cc Godden ;)

An XR750 Harley I think is the clear answer to that question.

would love to hear that round the Bathurst show-grounds or similar long track, any video exist of Chris on this Bike?
-
Hoony
Not sure about any video, but there's some stills around of Watto on it at Tamworth or Muswellbrook . I'll have a yarn to Fotohound and see what he can come up with.
Foss
-
Yeah Baby.
My money is on that with Chris on board.
Check out the droop on the footrest, would it be legal if I put something similar ( not 1/2 as long ) on my DR500 Dirt Tracker for EVO & pre 85?
I can't get my body around Sliding a bike with my right leg tucked up.
-
Now that would be something to see ,watto on that thing in full flight on longtrack :o

Both Godden photos courtesy of Trevor Harvey aka Fotohound , one of Track racings biggest supporters and premier lensman, Oh and I nearly forgot, a Dirt Track sidecar racer too, go Trev. !!!
Foss
Just checked, the Godden photos were taken at Muswellbrook.

Ola the v twin went into production early to mid '80's i think?? In there somewhere any way :) matcho mick posted on vintage track pge. 11 mar. 2009 subject,.. longtrack some info on the big twin.and a couple of pics. S'pose Watto would be the one to ask about a comparison. mark.
-
Without trying to hijack your topic Foss or get too techo.
That footrest obviosly swings up, but do they also have to fold back?
We've gone from Daves Beeza to Daves Godden to Vee Twin Godden to Harley Flatracker to Footrests without upsetting anyone.
Are us Dirt Trackers setting an example ;D

Spoke to a guy with a godden V twin in a speedway sidecar at Broadford HBBB at easter just gone, he said his was a 1984 model.

Hey, Slides
Mate, as long as it's about Dirt Track , Long Track , Speedway, two or three wheels, I don't care what subject we spin off to.
Ya footrest ,
On me Elstar I did make me swinging footrest fold as well as swing , cos I used to clout the right hander at Griffith when it didnt fold !!
So, a little bit of shed engineering and away ya go !!

I've bin thinking about making up something for a while, my wife said I only need an extra 3" of droop and funnily enough, I hardly use the back brake as it is, Speedway upbringing.

Fotohounds rebuilt outfit, Pepper is the pilot !!

Another diversion, what the hell are all these air filters for?
Foss, is he riding that sidecar at the titles?
-
Don Godden, regarding the v twin, said it sounded like tearing calico.Awesome!!
-
I hardly use the back brake as it is, Speedway upbringing.
When Jim bought me slider off me , he said " that bloody back brake doesn't work !! " , I said " It's never been used ".
Foss

Slides,
I think Trev's outfit may be just a bit too modern !!
That # 84 bike looks like it's got a Turbo or something !!

We shouldn't forget MrBSA USA, the Dick Mann.
Looks like he might have had a sit down at this meeting.
Best real name in motorcycle racing, worldwide, without doubt.
I'm sure we've all thought of ourselves as Dick Man at least once?
-
Dick Mann's biography, Mann of His Time by Ed Youngblood, is a riveting read, not only about the battles Dick went through to go racing and his amazing race record, but also his influence on the subsequent politics and administration of AMA and AHRMA racing, the impact of which continues to this day. An undervalued but outstanding star and ambassador for the sport. ;)
-
just to let you all know i am visiting dick mann next week a guy i know over here in the usa is good mate with him
jim
still in the usa
-
G'day Jim, hope the holiday is going well.
When you meet Dick make sure you tell him how popular he is in OZ and how we'd love to see him out here at one of our events.
Maybe for the Classic DT Titles at Nepean next year? ;D :D ;)
-
wouldn't that be cool !
pancho
-
Why can't I find that vid of the speedway bike that did its own thing till someone put it out of its missery slides? I cant find it with my grandaughters laptop, I'm at Tumut .
cheers pancho
-
There's the problem Punchy, the internet hasn't reached Tumut yet. :P
-
Jim will probably kill me for posting this,
(http://i854.photobucket.com/albums/ab106/JAP454/JimDickMann.jpg)
But the big fella's been in contact with Dick, one way or another, for a while and got him to sign this pic of Jim on my TT slider at nepean when Jim owned it, I must admit I'm glad to have it back and I'm gunna take it to Canberra on a practice day,
It would be cool to see Dick at Nepean, however we probably would have to find a BSA twin for him to do a demo on, wouldn't that be grouse ??
Foss
-
How many of yuze dudes can I expect to see at Nepean nex sundy?
WELL??
-
Not us , Pancho, we gotta help Canberra run their DT round 2, Pity
Foss
-
I would love to be there Wally but with Bris only a week later, I don't want to take the risk of my trip north being scuttled at the last minute.
I'll admit that sounds soft, but I've been planning for this for a while and working 7 days a week for the past month so I can take some, Me time.
I reckon we should work on getting Mr Mann out here for an event, any event, how cool would that be.

Just stumbled on this ripper.
Check out the style on the bloke riding the high line.
Who do you think it is, should be easy.
Mert is having a good look, " What the hell is this guy doing ".
-
Slides
Mauger or Briggs ??
Foss
-
that might be T.H. ? taking the high wide line.
mark
-
I'll let it go a bit longer.
Mark, TH never took his arse off the seat, think Speedway Rider.
Actually Foss was 50% right, Briggo.
-
bugger!! Foss, i reckon its Ivan Mauger
mark
-
double bugger!!!
-
I remember reading an article about Ivan and Briggo doing some Short Track meetings etc in the USA some years ago, but couldn't remember what race number each one ran, ya pretty right about TH , Slides.
