So whats the go?
Will it be open to anyone over 45 with a current national liscence, regardless of personal racing history?
-
ah? age group racing you say ;)novel idea ;D
An open Nationals event and a over45 Nationals, 2 seperate events, I like the idea of the fact old blokes can ride either event.

I can understand the modern over 45 guys wanting an event like this as they are included in any other title event ,just a though for an old guy title/event Oz/state wide is all !! ;D
I know the calenders full nowdays, nothing like a choice :P

The calender not that full there are only 2 Nat titles events on currently per year.

So , It will be open to all riders over an age ( say 45) ...bikes will be open also...so any modern bike I am assuming.... Sounds just like the Vets series run here by MWA...

Would depend on the track , a jump filled with stutters etc track I would not attend, Eco Valley or Conandale I would be there for sure.

Freaky....there's a lot more to our sport than just the two Nats mate. Things might be dead as a dodo in S.A. but for the rest of us the calendar is indeed getting close to full. There's a soon to be announced big vintage motocross event set down for October that when added to both Nats, HBBB and CD8, plus the individual state series for both MX and DT plus individual club days, leaves little free calendar space.
Having said that, a Vets Championship is a great concept and if it's held for modern bikes reckon it would only draw a small majority of its entries from the vintage scene, the rest coming from the mainstream sections of the sport. This idea has been floating in and out for many years with Geoff Eldridge touting for it 20 years ago.

On this subject the Sunshine Coast club run meetings for all classes (Junior and Moderns) and at the last two meetings Vets (which in moderns is over 35) is the bigest subscribed event with a field of 40 and over half of them are blokes over 45!!
Has merrit but there is a lot of events on the go as we speak.

The modern over 40 Vets Nationals has been running for a couple of years alongside the MX Nationals, there are 2 rounds- Moree and Coolum. You better be fit cos the tracks are ROUGH!

Firko, bit harsh, SA seen is not dead as a dodo, we have a good attendance at our tracks in the eyre peninsula which is mostly ridin by people in the nearby towns. It is very competitive and we have a ball as we are all good mates. At times we forget that we all love our bikes competitive or non but should take peoples opinions as just that-there opinions. ;)

This is part right. Yes Kevin run this last year as an official National tital aproved by MA for the first time. It is on again this year but Moree is not part of it, only Coolum. Moree is not that rough when its prept for its big events. By the way the Boolooroo Open is on this weekend at Moree. If anyone needs entries let me know.

If the dates dont clash for the Classic Nat in 2012 we could actually have a good event if its well supported ;D
Hello ,
I am Mick Jones President of the lightweight MCC.
Our club is holding a Vets only event on the 4th September.
We are just letting all clubs know as it is a first event tailored just for Vets over 35 years of age.
The classes are as follows
35 – 39
40 – 44
45 – 49
50 – over
Headlight 35 plus
Vintage & pre 85 35 over.
Pro – int 35 over.
The day is to give all the vets a day to race in their own age group without having 10 , 15 , 20 years difference in age.
There are trophies up for grabs but mainly a day out and have some fun.
Entries are out on the lightweight club website, MWA and Perth MX.
I was hoping that you could let all your vet riders know about the event,
If successful it will become an annual event.
My number is below or contact the race secretary. Details on web site.
Thank you for your assistance.
Mick Jones
