Just curious as to why my IT175 G has a serial number starting with 4J0 (steering head and engine case) when all the literature i see , even original manual says 3R6 . Is this an oceania model thing ??? Not that it matters , just find it a little odd that i cant find any mention of 4J0 anywhere. ???

that is weird 3R6 should be for 80 models. 4JO is listed above but no year or model ????

Speed and Sport recognise the 4J0 number, suggesting its not an exclusively Oceania prefix.

Dino Rider you have a 81 " H " . Yamaha 81 models all started with " 4 " regards Iain

compliance plate says 3/80 and the link from motomaniac is the first place i have seen mention 4j0 ,various other parts with numbers cast on them say 3r6 .
Thanks for the info ,still no clearer about it but it makes no difference .I bought it in 1984 and used it in the local bush tracks for a while then it spent the better part of twenty years leaning up against my dads shed until a couple of years ago. i have tidied it up with the intention of getting my wife interested but while she said she was keen in the end she is just not in to it.

Dino Rider Yamaha 80/81 models shared a majority of parts . strange the id plate 3/80 the 4j0s would not have been released till Nov /Dec is the plate the original or a swop from an 80 mod? as I said strange .My referance is from Yamaha Dirtbikes by Colin Mackellar it has all the year mods and no's

the plate seems to be all original and the numbers match the engine
