You might be VMX'er but you probably drive cars and have an opinion of the 'best' car.
I'm not too surprised - the Japanese are on the top of the heap. Jaguar X-Type is up there with them. And not a German sausage in sight :o.

Surprised that the Toyota Camry 4 is not close to the top.
We have a second car that my wife drives, it is a 94 Camry wide body,
300,ooo plus on the clock, still runs fine does 700k on a tank full, and only rattles since I thrashed it on a long drive [by myself].
It is more comfortable, quieter, than my 97 Commodore and has better power steering etc. The Com. has done 200,ooo.
I havent heard any nasty words about the later camrys.
The quoted survey probably does not include oz where cars are really used [and abused.]
cheers pancho.

The poms love manual gearboxes - if they had as many automatics as we have here, none of the Volvos would be on the list...
Although, it must say something about the Australian notion of unreliable European cars, with so many of then ranking highly in this list. I'm just not sure what it says.
Also, the last 850 was made more than thirteen years ago. A baker's decade?

Daewoo Leganza ;D ;D would have only been half a dozen of those sold world wide

I'm surprised to see that there are 25 more reliable cars than my old '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7l. The old bus has 170 000 k on the clock yet it's never had any major mechanical problems in six years of ownership. There's been a couple of computer twaddles such as the central locking not working since '06 and the heater and climate control sometimes chucking a role reversal a wobbly but I can live with that.
I'm only on my second set of tyres from new, the disc rotors were replaced at 40k and are still within tolerance and the V8 burns no oil. All of the ball joints and steering components are original and show no sign of wear. The only replacement in that department was the steering damper which was replaced prior to the recent HBBB trip.
I'm planning on selling it off at around 200k and will probably buy another Jeep....probably a year old current model 5.7 Hemi version.

Yeah, who'd own one of those sh1tbox Porche Boxster's hey :o ;D

I've got a 240 Volvo. If the measure is long term reliability, then I win - regardless of what anyone else owns.
My now retired 240 wagon has over 530,000kms on it and still running strong, despite no significant mechanical work on it, ever. It only got retired because the auto began to leak, and some dumbasre got lazy with topping it up, so now it won't go into top gear.

Man I must own shit box central ;D. only my rally car made the list ( impreza) all four others not in sight !!!!

6 speed Toyota Altezza, the more powerful & fun version of the Lexus IS200 ;D

That's B.S. a ford focus ahead of a Toyota corolla....and not a Hilux in sight ???
-
My thoughts too Evo-who wrote this shite?
-
Poms wrote it. They drive very different cars over there.
Basically, if you looked at your local shopping centre carpark and replaced all of the 4WDs and utes with Transit vans, and downsized all the cars (replace all the Falcadores with Renault Meganes, all the Mazda 6s with Nissan Micras, etc), then you'd be close.
-
And no mention of a Dummy door ???
-
They sell Commodes over there as Vauxhall something or anothers.
If they're not on the list, then either they aren't reliable enough ;D, or they didn't sell enough of them to consider.
-
hey old fart how was the duck shooting in Unzud
-
Bah!! My old 250ci XB Falcon wagon did 550,000k's, never missed a beat until I stuck 'standard' (low octane leaded fuel for the youngsters here) fuel in her, then a rod came out the side of the block for air LOL
-
Turn it up Nathan...... ;)
To answer your question Bazza - awesome ole mate , pitty about the weather which turned to shit Friday arvo along with thunder storms on Thursday which made walking in and out with water up your go nads in places a bit tiresome.

I'll meet your Volvo and raise you a Cadillac. Reliability and Style.
