Went to the ride park at kenilworth last year. It was pretty good then and has apparently been improved since. Well worth a look, 2 mx tracks with jumps that are vintage friendly, a couple of peewee tracks. Open midweek, and I think you can camp there now

I rode Stanmore mx track today and took my Franken. Very user and vintage friendly. Well groomed and the new format is spot on. Saturday is kids, juniors, women and vets(over 40). The women rode with the vets so there was three sessions. So the track is at it's best, you don't have to wait long ( I did 5 sessions and was out of there just after 1pm) and it's not crowded.

The new practice format is good, they alternate it each week so next weekend will be vets, juniors etc on Sunday.

Thanks for the replies Reedycreeks 5mins from my place so I'll go there I was looking for a big flat area but that will do.
I mostly trail ride (including Dalby/ ADBA rides) and am a bit nervous about doing a 60k loop after a full rebuild it would end up on the back of the sweep truck ;D

There,s a new place just opened west of Cunninghams Gap but before Bestbrook.
600 acres of mountains and the owner appears to be a nice guy. :)
Sign on the Highway. Property on both sides of the Highway. 30secs from turn off to camp sites.

Have had a run to Manar Park, some good riding in a very quiet environment away from the ratrace and the knobjockeys. Operators are very laid back as long as you follow the rules. A lot of the transport tracks are shared with 4 x 4s but are wide enough for all. All bike tracks are directional and arrowed. There are some nasty hills down by the river if you are keen on destroying a car or bike attempting a trip to the top for a better view. Lots of rocks and mud in Winter. Some of the tracks are so difficult to traverse that they use a log skidder for track maintenance. Take plenty of fuel and the necessary spares, although they do carry some common spares at the Park.

Went to the new moto x park at Wyarralong ( near Boonah ) yesterday, and not that impressed with the place. The park officially opened to the public on 18/12/2011 and is already showing signs of laking track maintenance. They do overwater the tracks several times a day, which makes the rough areas even more challenging.
There are 2 good sized mx tracks that are more suited for pre 85 to modern bikes.
They have large enduro loops but would not allow mx bikes to ride the trails?
Very basic canteen supplies. There are ample toilets and large camping areas.
So for a 230km round trip from Brisbane taking, 3 hours 10 minutes out of your day, for a discounted entry fee $35( if you have a M.A. Licence and live in 1 of 5 contributing councils ) on tracks not realy suited for a vintage mx bike, made for a day of mixed feelings for the place.
The property is owned by the Queensland Government, run by M.A. and funded by 5 S.E.Qld Councils
( $74000 contributed by Redland City Council, possibly same from other 4 councils ) one would expect it to be state of the art. Maybe if they had a natural terrain vintage friendly track I might give it another go, or maybe I should just get a modern then enjoy what it is there for.

Hey, Im taking my son out there tomorrow for a ride on his YZ80. Do they let everyone out on the track together? I'd hate for him to get flattened by A bigger bike, or be the cause of someone else getting injured...He only ridden the bike about 4 times.

Post by: 09.0 on January 02, 2012, 09:02:56 am
They have a peewee track and a junior track just for the kids. They also let the juniors have a session on one of the main tracks by themselves. Being M.A run they are strict so no shenanigans.
I asked nicely and waited till the juniors hopped off there track and took my '74 around that track. Not fantastic but got a ride in. You need to take an evo bike or later as its to rough/ modern for the real old girls.
You got to start somewhere and they are catering for moderns. I personally don't like either track but I will go back as its close and not too many other places to go.

Its not glass smooth, but ive ridden on way worse. moto track 2 would suit evo and older bikes if you just go down one side of the double tabletops. There are some loose bulldust in some corners, but it doesnt cause any problems, there is a tricky off camber uphill section but older bikes have no fear...give it a go ;)

We had a great time there today. Track is bumpy and has holes in it but for the price and location its great. it was prepped a little since last time we where there but it is a motto park for dirt bikes more time riding suits us.  They spend plenty of time watering the tracks to keep the dust down which is good.  The bush tracks are very dusty but we had a little rain out there today which will help out the riders tomorrow.  I have paid a lot more to ride on motto cross tracks in worse condition than this and got a lot less ride time.   A least here you can ride from when the gate opens till it closes.  ;D

Best thing you can do is support this new facility by going as often as you can and looking past any faults you might find . This is a real test as the government has thrown alot of money at it and if this flops, it's all over red rover I say. If this one goes well enough, they are saying that they would consider doing the same on the north side of Brisbane as well. That's got to be a big positive. So how about everyone being positive about the best thing that's happened to qld mx in a long time. I took out a pre65 bike and a pre 75 bike on two different occasions and Kevin Mortimer who is helping to run the show is very vintage sympathetic and let me have a ride on the junior track as it is smooth enough for the old girls.

Bugger Off Cloogy-they should get it right. Both Ray and Kevin have had enough experience over more than enough years to get the tracks right and to look after them properly.
I do agree that we should all back this to the hilt or they (qld govt) will pack up and go home but we can't let things go the way they always have with poorly designed and maintain circuits.
I have not been there yet but will be going as soon as the Wasp is back together and I would hope to have somewhere "natural" to ride the old girl.

I'm at wyaralong now, track 2 is not too bad, it's rough and built for modern bikes. Don't expect to come out here on a vmx bike and have fun. The trails look dry and dusty but that's to be expected.
I'll come back here for sure

Impressive stats  :P  :P from fullnoise article

Australia's newest trail bike park, the Queensland Moto Park at Wyaralong in South East Queensland is expecting the highest number of riders ever to converge on the park for the Easter School holidays since opening in December 2011 which has so far seen 8,575 riders in the first 3 months of operation.

Queensland Moto Park (QMP) will be open every day of the Easter School holidays which will include all public holidays, mirroring the Christmas holiday period which proved more successful than predicted with over 1000 riders per week of the holiday period. So successful were the Christmas holidays that on the fourth day of operation the QMP staff were overwhelmed with a single day usage of 322 riders.

Queensland Moto Park's Manager, Ray Buchanan says that the QMP staff expect an even busier Easter holiday period now that the wider trail riding community knows about the Moto Park.

"If the Christmas holidays are any indication, the Easter break will be just as impressive if not better. Last Sunday (1/4/2012) we broke our record with 363 riders arrive at QMP and we now have a limit of 350 riders per day" Buchanan said.

QMP developed an online booking system to improve queuing times for riders signing in and also to assist the Moto Park's staffing for the high volume of riders on weekends and holidays. With expectations of up to 350 riders per day over Easter, it is even more important to book online to guarantee a ride on the day a rider chooses.

Queensland Moto Park is also in a position to continue job growth of the local community, requiring support riders and casual employees during the busy Easter period. With over 40 kilometres of Enduro Trails, QMP requires riders with MA licences or Officials with a minimum Practice Supervisor accreditation to help with managing the high rider numbers on the trails.

The Queensland Moto Park at Wyaralong is continuing to be developed as a joint initiative between the Queensland Government, Council of Mayors (SEQ) and Motorcycling Queensland.

For more information regarding the new Queensland Moto Park, please visit: www.qldmotopark.com.au

It sounds like this week-end will be the big test.
Let's all hope that all goes well and we will still have a park after Easter.
Let's also hope not too many NONGS will turn up and bugger everything for the rest of us.
Will prolly take a drive down over the week-end to take a look.

Went to Qld moto park on the weekend. They do need to do some prep work. Back in September they had just ploughed/ripped up the natural terrain track. This left large dirt boulders all over the track and on the day the track had one line only. Since then these have broken down and the track is very sandy. They need a lot of rain to pack the track back down again.
Title: Re: Queensland
Post by: EML on October 21, 2014, 09:06:50 am
84KX a motocross track isn't supposed to be hard packed, that's called road racing and they have that at Willowbank (complete with jumps and bumps) You'll need different tyres too.
Motocross should be soft and loamy and even sandy, it moves around under your tyres, makes you think maybe you have a flat. Good for concentration and arm pump.
If you want something in between, try Dirt Track, hard underneath and slippery on top, each-way bet, but too mundane for me.  :D
Title: Re: Queensland
Post by: 84 KX big bore on October 25, 2014, 06:49:11 am
Agree EML.  :)

My point was around that the tracks are in need of prepping. The track has been ripped up/ploughed and has left large clumps of dirt which in a lot of places on the track has left one line. Many riders out there last weekend were of the same opinion. cheers,

Post by: JohnnyO on October 25, 2014, 10:08:57 am
The QMP mx tracks are prepped every tues & wed that's why the park is closed those days.
With the lack of rain there isn't always enough water in the dam to saturate the track when they rip it to avoid large clumps of dirt.
The tracks are also touched up each evening as best they can after the park closes..

The Dalby Moto Trailride Series this year has18 rides all up,from Maleny, out to Barcaldine, and south into NSW at North Star(some rides have been cancelled,or rescheduled due to the drought). All of these rides are run by volunteers, and raise money for local schools, and charities.Checkout the Dalby Moto Calender, and also give the organisers a call,to checkout conditions, and terrain type. The rides are run under MA permits, and a couple of years ago a better deal was worked out with MQ,for one day licences, and entry forms.Bunya is the longest running ride, starting over 30 years ago,and is one of the best,as they alternate between 2 sites, along the Great Dividing Range, near Bell, north of Dalby.Trails vary in length with North Star having over 160km of marked trails, over an area of 500sq km,all of the trails are opened at the same time, and the access to the longer trails are closed earlier,to make sure everyone is back before dark.By opening the trails altogether riders can have 5 different combinations ,and there is a free ride area in a large quarry, that is only 10 minutes out and 10 minutes back from the campground, good if you want to take the kids on the open track,to see how they handle it.Old bike, and rider friendly, with bypasses on the harder sections, and a barbecue at the fuel stop on the 85 km loop .call 0428545367, or North Star Trailride Facebook, for more info, and online sign up,also sign upon the day,July 30/31,2016.
