Title: CR450 strange arm

Honda men...
I have a strange one for you to look at.
Has anyone ever seen a CR450 arm like this before.? The bottom arm in pictures. It has extra support bracing around rear wheel mounting plates. I believe it is original, I doubt its an add on or after thought the workmanship is way too good and clearly as old as the rest of the bike. It is not a repair as no damage to plates or repair work can be seen anywhere on the arm.

Any clues? . The other arm is same as all the other CR450s arms ive seen. I have trolled the net looking at a number of CR450s. All have the same arm as one pictured on top. The heavier arm seems to be is identical as far as I can tell in all other areas.
