Post by: yzhilly on February 11, 2008, 10:20:29 am
G'day i'm trying to get a stator coil for my 1986 CR80 .I have put 2 s/hand stator coils in this and they last 6 months and give up the ghost . Honda have discontinued the original part but I'm wondering about a later model coil, they are availible has anyone tried this ? will it work ?.

Thanks LWC i did a bit of  homework myself and electrex list the same number for all CR80/85 and new world honda can get a genuine coil for a 96 model for $55 ,so i have ordered it in and will find out tomorrow if it will work. I will keep you posted as i dont think this is the only honda with coil problems.

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is . Young Einstien at Honda doesnt know the difference between a pulse coil and a stator coil . The stator coil from honda is  now $199 .
