Hi everyone.
Time has now come to remind everyone about the requirement for pre-registration to ride at Suzuki Classic Dirt 8.
As indicated in our promos in VMX Magazine, due to the limitations of the tracks at Conondale, we are limiting the number of riders who will be allowed to ride at CD8 to 600 people. This is to ensure that the tracks don't get too overcrowded and that CD8 remains a fun event to participate in.
Of course, there is NO limitation on the number of people who can come to the event to bring their bikes to show off and just be a part of the largest Vintage Dirt Bike event in the southern Hemisphere. The limitation is ONLY on riding participants.
We are now only just over 6 weeks out from the event and rider registrations are starting to fill up (we now have over 450 riders registered). I'd hate to see anyone miss out that really wants to have a ride, so NOW is the time to register to ride at the VMX Magazine web site or by mail. By the way, don't even think about trying to turn up and register on the day - It's not gonna happen!
And by the way if you are in doubt whether you can actually make it or not, it's better to register anyway. We will refund registration fees (after the event) for those that can't make it for a legitimate reason.
Note: The current list of registered riders will be posted on the VMX Magazine web site in the next few days. If you think you have registered and you're not on the list you will need to email me at [email protected]
So there you have it. Register NOW if you haven't already. Don't say you haven't been warned! :o

Just another reminder about pre-registering to ride at CD8... ;)
Riding spots are limited and are filling up fast now, with nearly 500 riders registered out of a possible 600.
25 riders have registered since I put this post up on the forum a week ago. :o
So don't procrastinate any longer if you want to ride at CD8! ::)
You may miss out if you delay any longer... :'(

Another Reminder!
I cannot stress how important it is that EVERYONE understand that you will not be able to turn up at Suzuki Classic Dirt 8 and expect to ride, if you have not already pre-registered to ride.
"I'll be OK, they'll let me ride anyway" is NOT an option here.
PLEASE tell all your friends who are intending to come to CD8 that they MUST pre-register to ride before turning up at the event, if they want to ride at the event.
We really don't want anyone to turn up and be told they cannot ride... even though we are doing our best to make sure that everyone is informed about this requirement, we are sure that some people will try it on. They WILL end up being disappointed. :o

I hope you guys have tasers ready for the cd8 sign on area. I spoke to two guys at the bmcc meet yesterday who hadn't read the entry details in the mag and who don't look at the forum. They had no idea about the pre-entry requirement.

Well, all I can say is that they are pretty silly if they don't bother to read the information we provide about the event, if they actually do read the magazine... :o
And by the way, the registrations HAVE increased in frequency in the last day or so (thanks Mainline!) so I would once again remind people NOT to wait any longer... we are well past 500 registrations now, with a limit of 600 ::)

I registered ages ago, not long after the online sign-on went up.
When I show up on the day, what proof of entry will I require?
I assume you chaps will have a list of names to check off?

Hmmm... The pre-registration is a great idea and will allow you guys to manage the whole thing more effectively.
But - knowing how notoriously hard it is to get riders to enter race meetings by the closing date, it astounds me that one month out you have nearly filled the quota. Either you've been VERY effective in getting the message out, OR there are a shitload of people keen to ride as the event gets bigger and bigger. You may find that just managing people who didn't know about the pre-registration ends up being a big time drain in any case!
Either way, my name is on the list so all's right with the world...

Well Graeme, we certainly appreciate the ability to keep reminding people here on the forum! ;)
By being able to keep poking everyone in the ribs, we have been pretty successful in getting the registrations happening. ;D
Having said that, I guess the reality is that there will probably still be SOME people in the dark with regards to the pre-registration requirement, but to be honest, you really would need to almost be deliberately in denial to not know and register, even if hearing about the requirement was through mates chatting at a race event or pub.
For those people, the decision not to be aware and register will end in tears. For the other 600, it will mean they will feel good about being organised!
Of course, I must again stress - If you are a mate to someone who you know doesn't read the forum, is planning to come to CD8 and is likely to be so disfunctional that they won't know about pre-registering, then it's your responsibility as their mate to let them know!
If they ignore your warning and say; "I'll be right", then let them come and be disappointed. ::)

one - plus a big mug of coffee - at 8 a.m. Friday. Watching the convoy rolling through town.

Pre register is OK with me, Thinking aloud it also no doubt helps cash flow for the VMX guys as there been payed months before the event. ;D

I'd suggest you check with the UnZud Boys and make sure that they are all registered by now... it's a long way to come and miss out, if you want to ride... ;)

since i won't make the event ( bugger, fork, &%$#) >:( i plan to "scalp off" my pre rider entry to the highest bidder on Ebay a week before the event.
this should net me enough money to buy every CR480/500 from 1982 - 1989 ( with pro-circuit pipes and WP suspension) 50 acres of prime Gippsland riding area with undulating hills complete with shitloads of loam berms, shallow jumps and fast flowing corners and a blonde with Big tits to clean all my airfilters. :D

Another update!
Rider registrations for the past few days have been "brisk", so thanks to everyone for spreading the word to your mates. ;D
Right now we are over 545 riders registered and about to enter the last 50 places for riding at Classic Dirt... :o
SO DON'T LEAVE IT ANY LONGER IF YOU WANT TO RIDE AND HAVEN'T REGISTERED YET!

Probably sounding like a scratched record now (at least you blokes should understand what that is ;D)... but time is VERY rapidly running out to register to ride at Suzuki Classic Dirt 8.
Rider Registrations currently sit at 560. That means only 40 more happy punters before we close riding registrations. :o
If you know someone (anyone) who is planning to come to CD8 and is intending to ride, make sure they know that they have to pre-register to ride at the event. Otherwise they WILL be disappointed.
