Is it okay to use 2.15" width rim for a 125 or is it better to use a 1.85" rim??
-
will the bigger rim and tyre still clear the swingarm?
-
My 125 had a 1.85 rim stock but I'm running a 2.15 with no problems.

Not being smart GMC but wouldn,t a bigger tyre on a 125 give you more problems than it was worth?
Was thinking that the extra load on the motor would make it harder to ride.
Much the same as an "O"ring chain. Sounds good but a 125 does not have a great deal of HP to spare so an ordinary chain is more practical.
Only my view.
I could be wrong and probably am.
I did race 125,s in enduro,s for a while and every advantage was welcome.

Totally agree, a large tyre on a 125 will kill it.
But I wasn’t intending to run a big tyre, just the rim, hence my poorly worded question.
Will a smaller tyre on the larger rim be a problem?
Or will the tyre loose its proper shape?
I have a few 2.15’s I can use for a project or should I chase down a 1.85”?

Now you,ve got me wondering.
What an interesting question. I,d like to know what would happen if you did that.

Assuming you don't change tyre size, going to a wider rim tends to give the tyre a square profile - in theory, this gives more straight line traction and less cornering traction. There's also possible handling issues due to the changed profile.
Can't say that I've ever felt the difference. I reckon that different tyres (of the same size) are more noticable.

Check tyre manufacturers specs for recommended rim sizes for a particular tyre. I know michelin has such a catalogue, was very helpful when i was trying to figure out what size rims to run.

Bruce the "spokesman" has a pile of spare wheels and rims Geoff, may be worth a call.

I called in on him yesterday Tim, he now has a job fixing a KDX wheel.
I think he said he may have a smaller rim for me but this is for another project, I just have to make sure I end up with matching rim styles, or I lash out on new rims

The KDX wheel? was it broken.... :o
-
Only eight of the 100+ components that make a wheel were broken. Hardly enough to require fixing, surely...

Do they make 1G spokes?

Obviously I have been holding back on the bagging of Nathan ;D :D

You should study up on your math’s Nath. ;D 8 disintegrations from 36 is a 23% failure
