love'n the truck too :P

8) would make a great transporter for the TM albeit a little bit of an overkill. Then again TM250's are a little on the heavy side :D

Alison, Alison, Alison......you've got to stop posting just for the sake of it.....that RM370 is the same one as the top, now give yourself an uppercut and get back into the kitchen....the cakes burning!!!!
-
no they didn't come in orange Alison though not a bad choice of colour when one gets sick of looking at cookie cutter yellow ;) only the '71 TM400 RL250's, some TS's and later post '77 DS models came in orange ;)

wow :o not really a collector of literature excepting some parts books and manuals which don't mind having grubby little fingerprints all over but jeez, I got more coin than than for half a dozen old Good Food Idea mags ;) serious!
I don't graze fleabay anymore as my searches are usually very limited item/model/part specific. Like the saying 'you don't know what you got till it's gone' I prefer to work with 'You can't miss what you've never had' :)
-
Doc the above TM SOLD for 1500 --what a great sport to be entering with toy prices like that :P
cheers A
You can't miss what you've never had' :)
:D I'll have to remember that, when waiting in line for my CCM or British Lounge Queen..though greed is good somedays ;) ;D

dream of being greedy

Alison, the final price on the TM250 kind of as I suspected. A few years back that would have been a $2000+ bike attracting more than a solitary bid. The other that sold recently went for the same coin so it appears $1500 is the going price for a fairly decent rider backing my comments of the market price dropping for anything less than full resto's ;)

Doc,That's just day light robbery on that tidy TM :o ;D
I don't believe ebay truely reflects the market.Steven and I just sold a CR125 74(with bits) for $1200 and it needs some TLC after boy child road it in the wavmx 15th Anniversary last year .We sold it at a swapmeet/vmx event-thats where the money maybe is better or was it just timing as in the beginning of the season.
It all seems as crazy as the housing market :-\
cheers A :)

Alison, 2 in a row and only weeks apart, both getting good exposure on this forum as well as ebay points to a trend in my eyes. As Marc hit upon, there seems to be a growing gap between absolute nice resto's and the ordinary decent ride bikes. Basket case CR125's and RM125's will remain popular for a time yet and the west seems to favour the older pre'75 machines at present. The nice resto's still command good money as restorations don't/can't come cheap. In saying this it is extremely rare anyone would get their money back on a resto when you consider the price of parts and the labour involved to do it properly. These restored bikes are collected by enthusiast and collectors and are increasingly to be shown only at shows and in collections. A lot will never to turn a wheel in angst again. With regards to the ride bike the pre'75 riders are becoming fewer due to the 'average' age of said riders creeping into their 50's. Time will tell but yes, I believe both bikes were bargains if you wish to go vmx racing. Time is a constant and as the years progress so too will the popularity of later models, models that younger guys have strong ties with such as 'pre85 and pre'90. One day pre'2000 will be popular, whether we like it or not it time moves on ;)

Yes,too fast a growing gap..I look forward to HBBB to see what bike resto standards are out there on the race track/pits.
Just looking at seige website, money seems not to be an option in the states and yet over in Spain they are all riding well used bikes..
Yes like it or not interesting times changing in Ozvmx. 8)
another good vmx entry bike

I think it is great that for whatever reason affordable VMX bikes are back in fashion. A lot of people have been clearing out there shed and not sitting on as much stuff so a lot of interesting bikes are coming on the market. I see RM500 for less than a couple of grand AUD on trade me, you could add the TM250 and RM370 and have all the classes covered.
I think it is really good for the sport to have both types of bike, racers and mint/rare bikes that are preserved or just given the occasional blast.
-
Ok... who got the Rm 370 ??
