Does anyone have a grinder or car starter motor powered roller starter they'd like to sell?
Failing that, where do I buy the grinder powered rollers?

Buy one ? Thought you were working to a budget there firko?
Here's a run down.
9 in angle grinder
4 pillow block bearings
2 boat rollers V/ concave shaped
Some shaft
a small and large sprockets and drive chain
some RHS steel
A 'normaly open' switch.
Approx cost $120 with a saturday afternoon of cutting/welding and machining
Put all together and you get something like this a 1 man operation

It's not the money so much as the time Lozza ;). I'm building 2.5 bikes before HBBB and haven't got the time to dig up my old boilermaking skills to whip up my own.
I'm actually going halfsies with a mate to soften the financial hit.
Worst case scenario...Can someone loan me a roller for HBBB? Of course the old 'you break, you pay' comes into play without question ;).

If you're interested Mark, I'm planning to build a set of rollers that fit under the rear wheel of the car.
Saves having to find 240v or cart around a battery or even the bulk of a small engine to run it.
I can always make 2.

Firko,Bruce uses h/d grinders,buys them in bulk,lot of guys use them in r/racing, car driven rollers are now banned from most tar tracks ,or have designated use areas,(to buggery away from everyone) :P

Mark, looks like a 9" angle grinder. As for using the car type rollers you need two people who understand each other, three is desirable. A solid & level piece of ground and a vehicle that has a non LSD diff.

Thanks boys....I sort of knew in the back of my head that the car rollers were banned but didn't want to say so until I was sure. I've used both types and have to admit that the electric grinder powered job is way better than the car wheel powered version for both safety and convenience. I used Mick Hockleys griner powered starter to start my misbehaving Maico at Nepean a couple of years ago and was suitably impressed at how well it worked.
The other, probably more important reason I need rollers is that because of my dicky old joints I now find myself unable to kick anything bigger than a Pee Wee 50. I'd like to be able to start my bikes at home, without having to call up a mate every time I need to start one up so methinks the grinder powered version gets the nod.

Marky i will "turbo" the Klub Kevlar margareeta mixer and we can run a Mk 1 Zepher fan belt to the roller to start the beasts.
