Been keeping an eye on that one....not to buy, just looking.
Its jumped $700.00 today, the interest is there and just a few kms up the road too.
Nice example by the looks of it.

I put a bid on it early but I don't need it not going to force the price up on something I don't desperatley want if it was a 400z I would have a big bid on for sure wouldn't be able to help myself. ;)
-
when i put it on here it was a $1000 about 15 minutes later was up to $1500.pretty tidy and near complete.cheers gary
-
When i replied 2 hrs later than yours oldskool,it was $1750.00 and 10 bids but back to $1525.00 and 9 bids when frosty replied.

Why do peeble bid up the price early in the auction? I just assumed it was owner or friends getting it as high as they can before the frenzy starts or do some folks think they can put others off by early strong bids?
-
It maybe both.
Sometimes in my case i may have to put an early high bid (if i really want it) because i might be away with work.
If i get it,good. If not,bad luck.
Some try and inch up with their bids to see what its up to and retract their last bid that goes over yours.

I'm with Monaro - if I cant get near the internet for a while I will put my best price forward early - but then it needs other people to bid upwards to effect it?

Just to put the feelers out and suss out what other bidders are doing/going to do/see how much interest is in the item.

Yes i think so, but i tend to only place bids at the last minute. No point in artificially driving up the price at the start and then everyone gets all frenzied and goes on a bidding war. You see that a lot with ebay 'newbies' with only a few stars and still learning the ropes. The experienced ones sit back and wait and pounce at the end.

And now it's 7 bids @ $1000, its going backwards!
-
I like those type of auctions...start high and bid backwards :D
-
if the bidding keeps going this way i might even have a bid :D
-
It gets better
Its now at 5 bids for $960 (What the ?)
-
Maybe the people bidding where all jokers I might actually win it I am leading the auction I will honour my bid if I win but don't understand how I could. :o
-
I didn't win it no drama for me. ;) because I had bid I could veiw the reason why the other bidders had retracted their bids and all three different bidders that had bumped it up to $1750 said that they entered the wrong amount, sounds a lot like they had mates bidding it up and got scared when they didn't get another bid it went quite cheap really I wonder if it had a comp plate and every thing with the bike was 100%.
