Seems that my options in Aus are running out but I think I am about to receive an offer (hold thumbs). Ultimately the job will entail R&D work in Belgium but the company want me to help out on a project(s). I have been given an option: Trento in Italy or Prague. Placement there will be for, I reckon, between 6 months and a year. Presently I'm leaning towards Italy 'cause the people are naturally sunny and the Czechs tend to be on the gloomy side (too much slivovitz or too much time under the iron thumb of communism?). But Prague is really central. Which one would you choose and why?

Czecho, go Czecho. A friend of mine was in the same position and went to The Czech Republic. Said it was insane. Apparently all the young men have gone West in search of education, opportunity and money, leaving behind lots of beautiful and horny women. Honest, true story :D.

Yeh, go Czecho, not only is it the ancestral home of ESO/JAWA but that lack of men ratio is a bonus.
You might find a rich one.

Italy-wine and cheese-then everything looks beautiful ;)

A rich MAN?? I hope not ;D
They said the same thing about the Ukraine and I waited all week for some woman to throw herself into my arms. Mind you I came close. And what a stunner she was.
Beer's quite good in Prague too I hear 8)

Friends of family spent some time in Czecho (and Poland) backpacking and they reckon it's the best kept secret in Europe. They said the people are great, The cities are clean with good public transport, many locals speak English and the beer is unbelievable (Kozel..mmmm). The downside was the stodgy food. ::)
Brad Lackey told us a similar positive story when he was here for CD.

I would have thought the same of the Ukraine Mark but the food was, IMO, very good and cheap too.

I meant you'd find a woman Tim, I'm not questioning your preference.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;D ;D

Funny anecdote about hotels in the former eastern block countries I was in a hotel in the Ukraine and a Saffie mate in a hotel in Poland. Over facebook he moaned about the cost of a cup of tea. I told him beer was cheaper. Five minutes later he comes back: "sh*t you're right"!

PS dont miss Faltas birthday party on June 18 . A few of us will be there.
That's a BIG factor. Love to meet him, seem a really nice guy who deserved a better break.
Culturally I'm pretty adaptable. I should hope so I'm on my fifth country so far!

Luke, I was offered Seoul but I think the culture is too diferent for me. Besides the trials/enduro/vmx scene in Europe is so much better (can you name a famous Korean trials, mx or enduro rider?).

Prague is a good city -- for a tourist -- get out into the 'burbs and it can be "shutter's up" -- and yes they speak English -- but only where the tourists touch -- get out a bit and the lingo is like a brick wall -- and in the winter it's real "Europe cold" -- not like most of Italy -- and if you want to go to Falta's Party it's only a few hours drive/ride from anywhere in that end of Europe -- and the roads are great. The Police in CZ are almost non-existant on the Highways -- not like Italy where they are always about -- for me it would be a toss up -- it would depend on where in Italy.

I have another choice but dismissed it outright; Dresden. I'm concerned that both Dresden and Prague share something in common, both are former soviet bloc and I suspect both share a certain drabness.

Trento. Pics show it's stunningly beautiful. I'll have language problems in Dresden, Prague or Trento so go for beauty?
