I'm after a set of evo - pre 85 period race numbers. Does anyone have a good supplier locally?
Darren are you stocking the Vintage factory decals like these ones?
cheers

I make my own using contact. Get the right font and size printed off a computer and then trace onto the contact. Cut out with scissors. Its easy and quick.
-
Just dont use cheap nylex contact, falls staright off. spend the bucks and by contact or go down the sign shop and ask them to gut you a metre off the roll. stick like shit to a.............

I think vintage factory do all sorts of stickers I have some fox ones on my ute and a few other stickers from them. ;)
-
sneaky trick is cut the adhesive into A4 size, mirror the images on a computer and print it out on the back. No tracing required ;)

Raes Graphic Signs, 172 Sunnyholt Rd, Blacktown (029622 8886) design and vinyl cut my numbers and backgrounds on their computer equipment. I think you'll find that many of the same type of computer graphic signwriters have the expertise though. There are hundreds of different fonts to pick from. I like the ones I chose and they now have the design stored on their computer under my account, all I have to do is call them and tell them what colour and how many I need and they're usually done before I can get there in the car.............Ah, modern technology, ain't it grand? ;D

like Firko - I went through a gpahics company - Big Boss Graphics (www.bigbossgraphics.com - Loganholme Qld) - bit of effort sorting out what I wanted but now they are only an email away - and they make for motocross also - bloody hard to get off when you do want to remove the numbers ;D

You betcha Gary, she's my graphics girl ;). They're a pretty impressive little company, I've currently got them working on Hindall logo tank stickers for my current projects.

Whats with the slack chain Firko? Cheers Jerry
It's a refelection on the slack owner Jerry ;D. That shot's an out take that really wasn't supposed to be seen. The Pro-Tec chain tensioner was at the platers with my trick heim jointed brake stay and unfortunately I didn't get them back in time for the shoot. I was going to adjust the chain to suit at the shoot venue but unfortunately it was absolutely pissing with rain so the opportunity window to do that disappeared. We were lucky to get the shots we did during the only 20 minute break in the weather. We shot two bikes in that 20 minutes, an all time record for Bill Forsyth as those who've experienced his drawn out photo shoots will well know. ;)

pre 70 - 60`s era bikes, the race numbers look more authentic when painted on.

for those that make their own, do you have a favourite font or can anyone id the fonts above in the vintage factory pics?
I've been right through ms word but failed to find one suitable. then started googling fonts but that is a big time waster.
might just get the VF ones if I can't find or make some locally cheers

Hey Chris thats exactly how i did the RM175 ;) and at about $2.00 a roll for black contact i can make as much as i like and when i like.
I am surprise how sticky the contact can be on a well prepped surface.

Mario 'tis how I make my left and right Rats ;D the ones on fleabay are all right side and they won't do left..no answer to my request so I guess it must have been all too much for them :D
BTW, I posted that elusive headlight today ;D only elusive because of where I had to crawl to retrieve it :o I have far too much shit or far too little room!

I also searched for fonts last year when my TM was near finished, but ended up making my own templates for all numbers in a phat style for single and skinny for two digits. Found some pretty good glossy contact. I thought they were good enough to sell on flebay advertised for a month or so but didnt get much of a reponse.I have pdf's of the templates and the Contact came from, http://www.crockerspaint.com/shop/products/118/Self_Adhesive_Contact_Paper.html
you can get black, white, green and yellow
So if your intrested I could work out how to send an email attachment with the whole set for you to make your own.
heres what I made up to show the style,

Woody,
I have a old JT catalogue with that style numbers in it.
I can copy for you to use as a template if you like.
-
thanks Guys, it's a time consuming job searching for the right font, so it would be great if I could grab a copy off you guys.
I like docs tip of 'mirroring' the text to print it on the back of the contact sheet. I've printed an outline on the front of the contact, which doesn't turn out the best on the shiny contact film.
